_Chapter 5: A deal with the devil_
Shawn had been thinking about Emily nonstop since their last conversation. He couldn't believe how much he had hurt her, and he wanted to make it right. He knew he couldn't undo the past, but he could try to help her move forward.
He decided to offer her a job at his company. He knew she was struggling to find a new job, and he figured this would be a great opportunity for her. Plus, he wanted to keep an eye on her, make sure she was doing okay.
He picked up the phone and dialed her number. To his surprise, she answered on the first ring.
"Hello?" Emily said, sounding cautious.
"Hey Emily, it's Shawn. I know you're probably still mad at me, but I wanted to talk to you about something," Shawn said, trying to sound sincere.
"What is it?" Emily asked, her tone softening slightly.
"I know you're having a tough time finding a new job. I want to offer you a position at my company. You'll be working as my marketing director, and I'll pay you twice your previous salary," Shawn explained.
There was a pause on the other end of the line. Shawn could almost hear Emily thinking.
"Why are you doing this?" Emily asked finally.
"I know I hurt you, Emily. And I'm trying to make it right. I want to help you move forward," Shawn said, trying to sound genuine.
"I don't know, Shawn. I need to think about it," Emily said, sounding unsure.
"Take all the time you need. But remember, time waits for no one. Be smart about your decision," Shawn said, trying to sound encouraging.
"Okay, I'll think about it. Thanks for the offer, Shawn," Emily said, sounding a little more hopeful.
"No problem, Emily. I'll be waiting to hear from you," Shawn said, before hanging up the phone
Emily couldn't believe her ears. Shawn, the man who had ruined her life, was offering her a job? It seemed too good to be true. But desperate times called for desperate measures, and she was desperate.
She thought about the offer long and hard. On one hand, it was a great opportunity. She would be earning twice her previous salary, and she would be working in a field she loved. But on the other hand, she would have to work for Shawn, the man who had broken her heart.
She decided to seek advice from Bella, but Bella was still not talking to her, especially after hearing what happened to her sister, Roxy. Emily felt guilty for hurting her friend, and she knew she had to make things right before she could ask for her help.
Meanwhile, Shawn was waiting anxiously for Emily's response. He had never felt this way about a woman before, and he didn't know how to process his emotions. He knew he had hurt her, but he wanted to make it right.
As the days went by, Emily struggled to make a decision. She knew she needed the job, but she didn't know if she could work for Shawn. She felt like she would be selling her soul to the devil.
But as she thought about it more, she realized that this was an opportunity she couldn't pass up. She would be able to support herself and her mom, and she would be working in a field she loved.
She finally made the decision to accept the offer, but she knew she had to be careful. She couldn't let Shawn get the best of her again.
"Hello Shawn, I've thought about your offer, and I've decided to accept," Emily said, trying to sound confident.
"Great, I'm glad you made the right decision. I'll send a car to pick you up on your graduation day. Be ready," Shawn replied, sounding triumphant.
Emily felt a shiver run down her spine. She knew she had just made a deal with the devil himself. But she was ready for whatever came next. She was determined to make a success of her life, no matter what it took.
