_Chapter 10: Just a little gossip_

As Emily sat at her desk, trying to focus on the task at hand, two of her coworkers, Sarah and Rachel, walked up to her. They were both smiling, but Emily could sense a hint of malice in their eyes.

"Hey, Emily, we heard you're quite the favorite around here," Sarah said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "We heard you slept your way to the top."

Emily felt a surge of anger, but she tried to keep her cool. "I don't know what you're talking about," she said, trying to brush them off.

"Oh, come on, Emily," Rachel chimed in. "We know all about you and Shawn. We know you slept with him in Roxy's house."

Emily's face went red with anger and embarrassment. "How did you know that?" she demanded.

Sarah smirked. "We have our ways. And let me tell you, you're not the only one who's been with Shawn. He's got a reputation, you know."

Emily felt a pang of hurt and betrayal. She had thought that Shawn cared for her, but now she was beginning to realize that she was just another conquest for him.

"You're just jealous," Emily spat, trying to defend herself.

But Sarah and Rachel just laughed. "Jealous of you? Please. You're just a cheap thrill for Shawn. He'll get bored of you soon enough."

Emily felt tears prick at the corners of her eyes, but she refused to cry. She stood up, her heart pounding with anger and humiliation. "I've had enough of this conversation," she said, and walked away.

But the words of her coworkers lingered in her mind, making her feel dirty and used. She couldn't shake off the feeling that she had made a huge mistake by sleeping with Shawn.

Unable to bare what she just encountered, Emily decides to confront Shawn, there was no other way her colleagues must've heard about what happened if not through Shawn, she had to have her answers.

As Emily sat in Shawn's office, she couldn't help but feel a sense of relief wash over her. She had finally confided in someone about the harassment she had faced from her coworkers, and Shawn's reaction was not what she had expected. Instead of dismissing her concerns or telling her to toughen up, he was visibly angry and determined to take action.

Shawn's face was red with rage as he listened to Emily's account of the events. He couldn't believe that his employees would stoop so low as to harass his new marketing director. And to make matters worse, they had done it because of his own actions. He felt a pang of guilt and responsibility for putting Emily in this situation.

As soon as Emily finished speaking, Shawn sprang into action. He picked up the phone and dialed a number, his voice firm and commanding as he demanded to speak to his secretary. "I want to know who was involved in harassing Emily," he growled. "I want them fired, now."

Emily watched in amazement as Shawn took charge, his anger and determination palpable. She felt a sense of gratitude towards him, mixed with a hint of fear. She had never seen him like this before, and she wasn't sure what to make of it.

As Shawn continued to talk on the phone, his expression grew darker and more menacing. Emily could tell that he was a man who would stop at nothing to protect his own, and she felt a sense of relief that she was on his good side.

But as the conversation came to a close, Shawn's expression turned to her, and Emily felt a sense of trepidation. What would he do next? Would he confront Roxy, or would he take his anger out on someone else?

"Thank you for telling me, Emily," Shawn said, his voice softer now. "I promise you, I will take care of this. No one will ever harass you again."

Emily nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over her. She knew that she had made the right decision in confiding in Shawn. But as she left his office, she couldn't shake off the feeling that this was only the beginning of a much larger storm.
