"It really couldn't have been anyone else, could it."

As Prime and Pulse's final battle was raging on, the air in the contestants watching area was filled with tense chatter. Right now every set of eyes were following every single move out there, and regardless of if they supported the Metal Ranger or the Prodigal Inventor they did so intently. Most of them, like Owen Whitlock of Universe 14, with a lot of respect.

"I mean, neither mine or Miss Alva's strength, Miss Abigail's and the professor's intellect or Miss Ashes and Mr. Goh'ji's skill was enough to stop them. In the end, I think it was always going to come down to those two" the Dragonborn continued.

"Hah! Usually I'd agree with you, my friend. And this time is no different! If I were a believing man, I'd say they were destined to meet here!" Morgan added, guffawing all the while as usual.

A few days ago, none of these people would've given each other much thought. But now, mere minutes from the tournament's climax, the unity between them was remarkably strong. With the not so surprising exception of Professor Suss, every one of them cheered on both fighters side by side. Acquaintances at worst, soulmates at best, the effect these people had had on each other was something special.

"I wouldn't say that, Morgan. Yes, they are both in the finals for a reason. No, I don't think even for a moment that it was a guarantee. Their unique strengths and desires to win were simply too much for the rest of us; who knows, in another timeline maybe they're the ones in the stands right now discussing how you and Owen are the best of the best. They've fought the hardest to win, is what I'm saying."

As a woman of science, Abigail had never been a believer in fate or destiny. In her mind, there were several outcomes where either Prime or Pulse might've ended their run as early as round one; they could've slipped up, turned overconfident or... anything, really. But they hadn't. They had fought tooth and nail to get to this point, and in her book this alone made them both deserving of the final win.

"Anyway, this is a lot more even than I'd first expected. I gotta hand it to that daughter of yours, Vuzrak; she's giving my prime creation - pun not intended - a real run for his money!" the bulky Half-Orc told her elven friend in front of her.

Vuzrak simultaneously looked more proud and more worried than he'd ever been. Which, given his experiences with the tournament, was saying a lot at this point.

"Indeed, I couldn't have asked for a better daughter. But still, seeing her getting hurt out there will never fully feel okay. Prime is very remarkable too, Abigail - as a matter of fact, I'm starting to wonder if Pulse will even be able to beat him... don't tell her I said that though" the Drow muttered.

His thoughts were interrupted by a cheerful giggle coming from beside him, followed by a small hand being put on his shoulder.

"I dunno if she's gonna win or not, but even if she doesn't she's sure lucky to have such a caring dad. And the same goes for Mr. Prime, or in his case it's a fantastic... mom? Big sis? Sorry miss, I dunno the best word to describe you two" Root chimed in with, switching her addression towards Abigail mid-sentence.

"Creator or big sis is fine" Abigail responded with a smile.

The young Genasi flashed yet another grin towards the huge inventor, before hastily standing up and walking over to the railing. She took a quick look out on the battlefield where Pulse had just been knocked down by Prime's low sweep, followed by once more facing her friends.

"Alright everybody, let's give them a big cheer again! Everyone ready?"

The answer was as clear as it was mutual. 13 deep breaths were taken, and in unison the fallen contestants gave everything they had to lend their support to the finalists. They had been taken out so that these last two could keep going, but that didn't mean that they would stop giving their absolute best. That was just who they were.
