Prologue

It all happened

so fast.

Too fast.

Everything she had,

everything she loved,

taken away from her

in the blink of an eye.

Nobody could have

seen it coming;

it was all so

unpredictable.

The happy little girl

full of hopes and dreams,

who shared nothing but

positivity and friendliness;

that happy little girl

who loved everyone

and everything

unconditionally;

that happy little girl

who Skyla once was

would never be seen

again.

One minute she was

laughing away,

full of nothing but smiles

like she always was

and the next minute

it was all gone,

just like that.

The most important

people in her life,

the only people

who ever loved her,

who ever cared

about her,

they were all gone,

just like that.

The only things

that made her happy,

gave her hope and faith,

made her feel wanted,

made her the happy

little girl she was,

gone.

Just. Like. That.

The last minutes

she spent with them

was in a car

swiveling through the  road.

Now they've disappeared

and taken everything with them.

Little Skyla was left with her

Aunt Sandra and Uncle Leonard.

They were movie villains

in real life.

They never cared

about her.

They barely even

noticed her

or gave her attention.

She was left to

face the cold world

all on her own.

She believed she had

nothing to live for.

Just waiting for

it to all be over.

Besides,

all her happiness

and everything she loved

was nonexistent.

It all happened

so fast.

Too fast.
