Chapter VII
The Last DropY/N POV
9:30 PMIt's been about 6 hours since Jinx dropped by my house telling me to get ready. All she said was 'Get dressed, I'll be back soon'. So here I am, eyes shut, lying on the carpeted floor of my living room. My headphones blasted my eardrums to high hell as I peacefully let my mind drift off into space.
That is until an unexpected weight lands directly on my stomach. Rendering my lungs as useless as a physically strong person with pink hair.
"Wakey wakey."
I take my headphones off and to no surprise, Jinx is right on top of me. Poking my forehead restlessly.
"Well hello there Psycho Sally. Nice of you to drop by and take my breath away after 5 years."
I say as I prop myself on my elbows. Sally made herself comfortable on my lap, rolling her eyes playfully."My bad cutie, I got held up but I come baring an adventure. Follow me cutie." Sally grabbed my hand and dragged me to my feet.
"Sweet. Where we going?"
"That's a surprise for when we get there. Now come on follow me." Sally exclaimed, leading us to the balcony of my apartment.
From the balcony, we made our way to the roof. Staring out at the bright city lights. Then from the corner of my eye, I noticed the smirk on Sally's face.
"I hope you've practiced your long jumps cutie," Sally said before sprinting forward and jumping to the next rooftop. She landed and turned back towards me, grinning.
'Seriously' I thought to myself. I let out a deep breath and took a few steps back before sprinting and jumping to the next rooftop. Landing next to Sally with ease.
"Not bad cutie. Let's see if you can keep it up." Sally joked before running to the next building and I followed right behind her.
Sally and I jumped along rooftops for a good 20 minutes before she came to a halt. There was an incredibly large gap between the building we were standing on and the building that was far down. In the Undercity. I could smell the smoke and poisoned air, the feeling of aggression and violence radiating off the city.
"Hope you're ready to see the Undercity cutie, cuz you're about to be thrown headfirst into it," Sally said as she took a few steps back. There's no way she's about to jump all the way down there.
"WOOOHOOO!" She yelled as she jumped across the large gap. Effortlessly landing on the adjacent roof, rolling and standing up. Placing her hands on her hips as she smirked back at me, signaling me to follow her.
Looking between the space and Pyscho Sally, it was an overwhelmingly large gap. Most sane people who valued their lives would turn around and go home. Good thing I'm not either of those. I took a few steps back and took a deep breath before sprinting at full speed and jumping. For a second it was quiet, like my body froze and everything in my mind went blank. Almost like a sense of freedom even though I've chased Sally across rooftops before. But this felt different.
My brain tuned back into reality once I realized that I had miscalculated my jump. I braced myself grabbing the top of the roof as my ribs slammed hard against the edge, winding me. I wheezed out a breath as I felt Sally grab my arms and pull me fully onto the roof. I rolled over on my back to catch my breath.
