Ava stirs the next morning, the sun creeping through the curtains begrudgingly waking her up. She realises she fell asleep in her mother's bed and she pushes herself up on her arms and looks over at her mom. She's still sleeping soundly. She thinks to herself she may as well go and have a shower and she can cook breakfast for everyone. Which is exactly what she does.
When it's ready, she goes out the back door and knocks on the guest house door, Lizzie answers.
"Good Morning Ava"
"Morning Lizzie, I'm just letting you know I've made breakfast for everyone, if you want to come and eat?"
"Thankyou, that sounds perfect, I'll get the others and we'll be there soon."
By the time they walk in they smell the fresh coffee, and it must be Ava's specialty, there's a full English breakfast for everyone.
Josie comes out, freshly showered, her hair is still wet and drops down her shoulders in waves. She sits down to her vegan version. Talk was light and nothing was mentioned from the night before.
After breakfast Josie gets up "I'm just going to check on Hope, she should be waking from the sedation soon."
She walks into her bedroom and sure enough Hope is awake but struggling to stay awake. Josie smiles, thinking she looks like sleeping beauty just as she's waking back up into reality. She notices those beautiful blue eyes are trying to focus on to her.
"How are you feeling this morning?" Josie asks.
Hope pulls herself up into a sitting position. "What happened last night?"
Josie fills her in on her pause from the world, and the fact she sedated her. She was concerned that Hope would be angry but that wasn't the case.
"I think you did what was necessary Jo, I couldn't live with myself if I spiraled in front of my daughter. So I thank you for that."
Lying here, I've realised that I lost everything in that fire that is physical of both my parents, those material items are gone now, and I'm devastated, they can never be replaced, but I need to remember they live on in the memories I hold in my heart, and the features and mannerisms of my daughter. I have to stop dwelling on the past now and everything I need is right in this house now. You, Ava, Lizzie, Mg and Alaric you are all my family, you in a different way of course." she chuckles.
Tears sting in Josie's eyes and threaten to flow. She is so happy and so damn proud of her girlfriend right now.
"Hey,, no more tears." Hope delicately rubs Josie's cheeks. "There has been way too many tears already. Today starts a new chapter of all our lives."
She slides back down until she's lying mirroring Josie's position again. She draws her in for a deep kiss, lengthening it as long as she could until having to pull away for a breath. She laughs, "We have the rest of our lives Jo."
Josie feels like she has just won the biggest lottery ever. She finally has her girl, after all these years, it's real and it's pure, and it's going to last forever.
"Right now I'm going to get in the shower and did I hear Ava has made breakfast?"
"Ok, and yes she has, she left yours in the warmer of the oven."
"Perfect, I'll see you soon." She gets up, kisses Josie once more , grabs some clothes and makes her way into the bathroom.
Josie delays her exit from the bedroom, her eyes following her girlfriend. 'She is so unbelievably strong', she thinks.
The morning flies by and so does the afternoon. They had gone to the airport to see Mg and Lizzie off. Lizzie is still conflicted about going and it shows. Hope goes over to her "We'll be ok here Lizzie, don't feel guilty that you have to go back. Someone has to run the company in my absence and you're the only one I would trust with that."
