Yarfa had always lived by her routine — work, home, and late-night coffee at a small café on the corner of her street. Tonight was no different, or so she thought. As she sat with her laptop open, hacking away at a challenging code, a man slid into the chair across from her.

"Mind if I join you?" he asked with a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes.

Yarfa looked up, her heart skipping a beat. The stranger had an air of danger about him — dark hair, a slight stubble, and a gaze that seemed to pierce right through her. "I'm actually working," she replied curtly, trying to ignore the shiver that ran down her spine.

"Herley," he introduced himself, ignoring her clear dismissal. "And you're Yarfa, right?"

Her fingers froze on the keyboard. "How do you know my name?"

He leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Let's just say we have a mutual acquaintance... and you might be in danger."
