Over the next few days, Yarfa and Herley found themselves running from one hideout to another, constantly looking over their shoulders. Yet, in the midst of the chaos, a strange bond began to form. Yarfa found herself drawn to Herley’s mysterious past, and Herley, in turn, seemed to be lowering his guard around her.

One night, as they hid in an old abandoned warehouse, Yarfa asked softly, “Why do I feel like you’re running from something too?”

Herley looked at her, his eyes clouded with emotions she couldn’t quite read. “Maybe because I am. But some things… some ghosts, you can’t outrun.”

Yarfa reached out, placing her hand on his. “Maybe you don’t have to.”

Their eyes locked, the air between them charged with unspoken words. Just as Herley leaned in, the sound of footsteps echoed through the warehouse, snapping them back to reality.

“Stay close,” Herley whispered, pulling out a gun from his jacket. “This isn’t over yet.”
