Chapter XIX: Peace is at Hand

Hazel ended up on the same mission as Frank, who signed up, and someone named Alex Fierro, who was a warrior from one of the Kingdoms. Hazel recounted the journey to Nico in their ride back to the Shadow Kingdom. After she was done, she asked about Nico's experience and who he was with. "Will and Kayla," he said. "What happened on the mission?" Hazel asked. "We found a part of Kronos's army, I attacked them, and Kayla and Will attacked them using their bows from farther away. We killed them," he said. "Anything else? Like something happened on the way there, or the way to Mare? Anything?" She asked. Nico was tempted to tell her about when he and Will kissed for the first time, but he didn't. "That's it," he said. "Aw. Okay," she said.

The moment Nico got back to the Shadow Kingdom castle, he quickly got out of the carriage and sped-walked to his quarters. He practically fell onto his bed. He was glad to be back.

Nico had been on three missions since the first one. They were all the same. Meet with the group, which usually changed each time, find the place they're supposed to go and destroy that base. Then they go to the nearest town and send a message to their respective kingdoms and carriages come and take them home. He had had one other mission with Will, but they barely had any time together,

But soon, it was finally the next meeting of the kingdoms. The second one with the Golden Kingdom leaders there, first one where they're officially invited. The meeting was at the Sky Kingdom.

Nico finally, after riding there in a carriage, arrived at the Sky Kingdom. Zeus, Hera, and Thalia greeted them. Hades greeting them as well. Hazel smiled and nodded in greeting. Persephone smiled. Nico? He did the smallest wave ever.

They each went to their temporary quarters and headed to the formal dining room. Inside, a few kingdoms were already there, but many were still missing. The four leaders of the Shadow Kingdom sat down and waited.

Soon enough, everyone was there except for the Golden Kingdom and Thalia, who volunteered to greet Aurelius, Orla, and Will while Zeus and Hera go back inside.

Everyone stared as they finally entered. Even though they all went to the Golden Kingdom, and the fact Orla orchestrated the missions to defeat the rest of Kronos' Army, a few still didn't trust them.

Will and Nico locked eyes. Will smiled at him, and Nico's heart skipped a beat. He gave Will a small smile.

The three leaders sat down. Thalia came in and sat in her spot. "Alright. Welcome to the Sky Kingdom," Zeus said.

They talked about matters in each of their kingdoms. Simple matters, because nothing has happened since Kronos' Army was defeated. Then, they talked about the missions. Not a single kingdom had one of the missions someone was sent on be unsuccessful. Orla's plan worked. Kronos' Army was nearly stomped out completely.

Nico didn't take much part in the conversations. Most of the princes and princesses never did, anyway. They usually only spoke if they had to ask something or if they were addressed. They all just ate their food, occasionally conversing with one another.

After that meeting was over, everyone left the dining room. Nico trailed behind the group. Will, who was near the back of the Group, stopped for a second while the rest of the group went ahead of him. He started walking when he was next to Nico. "Hi," he said. "Hi," Nico replied. Will took Nico's hand and interlocked their fingers. They walked like that until Nico had to go to his room. By then, a few other kingdoms' leaders had already went to their rooms. Will turned to Nico to say bye. He looked around, then kissed Nico on the cheek and said, "See you tomorrow." "Yeah. Bye," Nico said. He opened the door and walked into the room.

A few days later, the meeting was over. Probably one of the most calm meetings in awhile. Nico thought as he entered the carriage. His life was finally peaceful. It hasn't been since Kronos' Army first attacked. But now, it was easy, even with the missions sometimes.

He was finally at peace.
