Taking in a deep breath, I looked at Diana and nodded. Diana gave me a small smile and turned her focus to the small centre created by Ben, Diana, and myself, holding hands to form a circle. While I had been asleep, Diana had been working on a locator spell and had everything prepared by the time I appeared. Diana began murmuring in a language I didn't understand, and her eyes began to glow. I could feel the power radiating from her as she continued her incantation. It was overwhelming. I saw Diana as a friend and someone gentle, forgetting that she was a powerful ancient witch who could inflict much damage. I gasped as the circle began to glow between us, and I watched in awe as Diana kept chanting. Suddenly, I was blinded by a bright light that made me close my eyes. When I opened them, we were still in the living room. I looked at Diana, who looked shocked.
"What happened?" I asked. She shook her head.
"I don't know. It was the most powerful locator spell I could find. It should have taken us to Freya." Frowning, I looked at Ben, who raised an eyebrow.
"What happened?" He just shrugged.
"I don't know, it was the witch's fault." Diana glared at him and huffed. I rolled my eyes and groaned.
"That's not helpful. You have been able to find my mother before, so why can't you find her now?" Ben pursed his lips and shoved his hands in his pockets. I hadn't realised we were all still holding hands.
"It doesn't work like that. She normally finds me." I looked back towards Diana, who was already moving towards her books, muttering to herself. Ben flopped onto the sofa and looked bored.
"What can I do?" I asked Diana. She was so focused that I wasn't sure she had heard me. I reached out and touched her shoulder, making her jump. Diana looked at me expectantly.
"What can I do?" I repeated, and she shook her head.
"There isn't anything you can do unless you have strong magic, which you don't. I will go back over everything and see if there was anything I missed. I am sure that it should have worked." I could tell she was talking to herself more than she was talking to me, and I sighed.

I felt pretty useless, considering the moon goddess had told me I was meant to be powerful. I snorted. I couldn't even parallel park. Ben glanced in my direction, but I ignored him. I found myself looking out of the window and into the woods. I then felt a pair of eyes looking at me. Glancing to my left, I met a pair of golden eyes looking right at me. The eyes glowed, and they stepped forward, revealing a large grey wolf. Werewolves. Shit. Gasping, I tore my eyes away and headed straight for Diana.
"There are werewolves at the tree line." Her eyes snapped up, and she frowned.
"That's not possible. I have a perimeter around the house; no other supernatural being should even be able to see it." I shook my head. Those eyes were looking at me, and they could see me.
"They were looking right at me Diana!" Ben was at the window looking out.
"I can't see anything." I threw my hands up in the air, exasperated. They didn't believe me.
"They were at the tree line. They were looking right at me, I swear." Diana put a hand on my arm.
"It's alright Morgan. We are safe here. They can't get through the perimeter." I felt my anxiety rising and couldn't calm down. I suddenly felt extremely hot. I started to pace, trying to talk down my anxiety. I never got this anxious and could always rationalise things, but it wasn't working.
"Morgan, you are safe here; you must calm down." Diana turned her full attention to my pacing and looked concerned. Her concern raised my anxiety, and I felt like a deer in headlights. I pulled off my jacket and threw it aside. It was too hot. I looked at Diana.
"I can't. Something is wrong Diana." Ben stopped looking out the window and was suddenly by my side.
"Morgan. You will be fi- oh Christ, you are boiling!" Ben had put a hand on my shoulder and snatched it back. He looked shocked. I groaned as my head started to pound. I clutched my head.
"Morgan. What's wrong honey?" Diana was hovering over me like a mother hen. I shook my head.
"My head really hurts, and I am so hot." Diana frowned and put the back of her hand on my forehead. She looked at Ben.
"She has a fever. Something isn't right." Ben's eyes widened. He was back in front of me, touching my face. His hands felt cool against my burning skin as I rested my cheek on his hand, sighing.
"Morgan. You are burning up, and I feel this has to do with finding Freya and your dreams with the goddess. You need to try to calm down and get a hold of this." I moaned as the pounding in my head increased. My knees buckled, but strong arms caught me before I could hit the ground.
"Make it stop." I groaned, tears starting to fall. I thought my head was going to explode. I clawed at my t-shirt, trying to take it off. I was too hot, and I needed to cool down.
"Morgan, stop. You can't take your top off." Ben muttered, putting his hands over mine to stop me trying to take it off.
"But it's so hot." I whined. I struggled against Ben's arms, but he was too strong—damn vampire strength. I managed to look down, and my t-shirt was soaked with sweat. I knew my hair was stuck to my head and must have looked like I had showered with my clothes on.

The window smashed as a giant wolf came through the window. I shrieked and was pinned to the floor by something heavy. I peeked up to see Ben on top of me, looking between the wolf and Diana. The wolf was looking at me. It was the grey wolf I had seen in the woods. I had seen werewolves and fought with a few, but this wolf was a giant. I knew I wouldn't stand a chance. Diana stepped forward, hands glowing, and the wolf was thrown against the wall. Ben grabbed me and zipped behind Diana. I was dizzy from the fast movement and wobbled, but Ben stopped me from falling. The wolf was on its feet and stalking towards us as if we were its prey, growling. Ben pushed me behind him and stepped forward next to Diana.
"Not today, wolf boy." Ben lunged forward and tackled the wolf head-on. I yelped as the wolf dodged and snapped its jaws towards him, but Ben was faster and moved sideways. He kicked out, but the wolf was evenly matched and dodged the blow. They stood facing each other, waiting for the other to make the first move. I then felt pain rip through my chest, causing me to fall to my knees, screaming. Ben and the wolf looked towards me, and Ben took the chance to get the upper hand. He lunged forward, wrapped both arms around the wolf's neck and wrestled him to the ground.

Diana was beside me saying something, but I couldn't hear her. All I could feel was pain. I was on all fours, gasping for breath, when I felt a shot of extreme heat pass through my body. I screamed, tears streaming down my face. When I thought I couldn't take any more pain, it stopped. I opened my eyes slowly and was met by the most beautiful golden eyes I had ever seen. He was the most beautiful human being I had ever seen. His jet-black hair was so messy it looked like he had just gotten out of bed. His eyes were glowing gold, and when I looked closer, the iris' were swirling, and I felt I could see into his soul. He had a frown on his face, causing a wrinkle line between his eyes. I could tell he was used to frowning a lot, but underneath, I could see he had a kind and gentle soul. The world seemed to have stopped, and I felt at home when I looked into his eyes. His large, strong hands held either side of my face, but they were so gentle, and I felt butterflies as he brushed his thumb over my lips. I gasped at the electricity that went through me. I suddenly felt so alive. The pain and heat I had felt moments ago were gone. I just felt peace. He glanced down at my lips before meeting my eyes once again. It was like he could see straight into my soul and see my pain. He frowned again, and I reached and brushed the frown lines between his eyes. I didn't want him to frown. He closed his eyes and sighed at my touch, and I felt his breath wash over me. He intoxicated me, and it was the best thing I had ever smelt. He smelled of pine, the forest, and something sweet I couldn't place. He then opened his eyes and whispered.
"Mate."
