"My day went pretty well." I grumbled and folded my arms. Cable huffed.

"I'm not playing around. It's important." He growled. I dropped my arms to my sides.

"No fighting, you two." Al murmured, "Take it elsewhere, I'm watching my show!"

"Watching." I whispered mockingly and cleared my throat. I turned to Cable again, who nodded his head to the kitchen's direction.

"Come." He commanded and made his way towards the doorway, I followed. Bossy, I thought. He leaned against the counter with his hands in his pockets. He stared at the floor for a long moment, gathering his thoughts. I was patient. Nathan opened his mouth to speak, hesitant. "You remember that device I had?" Which one? I raised my shoulders. As if he knew I was about to let out a sarcastic retort, he raised his head to meet my eyes. He looked serious, and he was terrible at hiding his fear. "The one I used to time travel." His voice was deep and low, almost a whisper.

"Oh!" My eyes were wide. "No! Why do you- why would I have it?" I tried lowering my voice, my shock still evident on my voice.

"The girls, the..." He trailed off, trying to remember their names. He squinted his eyes and pressed his lips together, a slight wrinkle on his forehead as he frowned. "Warhead and the other one..."

"Yukio?"

"Yeah. That one," I furrowed my eyebrows. "They said that you might have it." I could tell he was trying to stay composed. "I came to ask for it back."

"Well, that's going to be hard," I folded my arms. " 'Cause I don't have it."

He frowned again, "What do you mean?"

"I don't have it." I repeated.

"Then who does?" Nathan looked away, he looked furious, confusion in his eyes.

"I don't know." Cable took a deep breath. "Look, we both know if I had it, I wouldn't be here." I lowered my words to a whisper, I could feel my expression drop to one of sincerity. "I wouldn't be here." I moved my gaze elsewhere, I could feel his eyes on me again.

"You could've still been here. It had no power."

I remained quiet for a moment longer, "I probably would've found someone who could fix it." I slumped my body against the fridge behind me. "But I didn't, because I don't have it." Cable hummed, he paused for a moment.

"I'm sorry, Wade." He took a step forward.

"You should be... I would've been vocal about having it." I let out a short laugh. "Hell, I would've used it against you probably."

"Is that so?"

"Yes." I smiled. "It is so."

"How would you do that?" He returned the smile.

"I would make you do stuff for me to get it back." He thought about it for a moment, "And I haven't done that, have I?"

"No." He shook his head. And that was that. I gave a single nod and moved to the fridge. I passed him a can of beer and took one out for myself. We cracked them open, he took a sip and I gulped mine down. I left the can on the counter top,  he watched me for a moment. "I saw what you did."

"Congrats. Everyone did." I huffed. "Colossus is mad at me for it."

"You killed a lot of people, Wade."

"Bad people." I corrected, he nodded. "I should've blown up the building, there were a bunch more guys waiting for me."

"Why didn't you?" Nate lifted his beer to his lips. "Forget the bombs?" He took a swig.

I smiled. "Classic me, eh?" I shook my head. "Colossus was messaging me, I forgot to bomb the place."

"What did he say?"

"I don't know, something about a party at their mansion tomorrow." I picked at my cuticles. "He wants me to be there."

"Do you want to go?" Cable stood beside me. I could smell his cheap body spray, the motor oil.

"No." His shoes were dirty and old, there were some cuts in his pants.

"Then don't go." He said with a shrug, but it wasn't that simple.

"Russell is going," I added. "Both him and chrome balls want me there." I leaned my head on Cable's shoulder, he went stiff, his slight movements seemed cautious and shocked. I continued, "And Yukio is going. She's nice, isn't she?" He set his empty can next to mine and crossed his arms. I couikd feel the slight effort he put in to try and move as little as possible, as to not cause any discomfort to me.

"She's alright." Al laughed again, in the background.

"Not everyone will be there too," I ran a finger over Cable's bionic arm casually, he didn't seem to mind. It was cold to the touch, and smooth despite the ridges. "They have better books to be in."

"What?"

"I think I'll go." I concluded. Cable looked away for a second and nodded. "And you?"

"I don't think I was invited." I gasped aloud and threw myself away from him. He remained unmoving.

"What?!" I put my hands over my lips in shock, then moved them to cover my cheeks. I vaguely heard Al scolding at me for yelling, "But I thought we all bonded when we burnt down the orphanage!"

"Maybe he just doesn't like me." He shrugged his shoulders slightly.

"We should kill him." I stroked my chin, my free hand on my hip. I schemed.

"Or you could go and I'll stay at my place." He was calm, stoic, he didn't care as much as I did.

"You know what? I won't go, then!" I threw my hands in the air. "I can just hang out with you, to spite them!"

"No, I—" He hesitated, "I want to be alone… I think."

I observed him for a moment, took note of all the slight movements his made. His eyes flickering to mine to a split second, the slight tension in his grip as he kept his arms crossed over his chest, the faint twitch of his eyebrow. "It's not because you weren't invited, is it?"

"No."

He shook his head. "I could try and get your, uh, time travelling thing back, if you want." I suggested, Cable nodded.

"It'd be appreciated." He gave me a lopsided smile and huffed, he walked out of the kitchen. "I should get going."

"Don't get into any trouble, mister." I walked after him.

"You're the one to talk." He remarked and opened the door. "Return it in one piece."

"What if it's in two when I find it?" I leaned against the wall. "Should I not return it, then?"

"No, bring it. Just don't break it further."

"So, it doesn't matter if it's in one piece then?"

"Wade." The corner of my mouth tugged into a smirk the moment he closed his eyes. His cheeks were flushed ever so slightly, his posture slouched. "Just give it to me."

"Oh, I'll give it to ya, and the device." He rolled his eyes at me. "Bye, pookie!"

"See you around." He mumbled as he slammed the door.
