Author’s POV:
Y/N was all set for the dangerous journey ahead. She had no choice but to sacrifice her wish. She was trapped, and there was no escape. She didn’t have any other options.
On the other hand, Jungkook was also ready. His mother had helped pack for him. It was clear that both of them were about to embark on something that could change their lives forever.
On the day of the journey:
Jungkook stood waiting at the main entrance of the mansion for Y/N. His face was unreadable, like always. After a few moments, Y/N stepped outside. It was the first time she had ever left the mansion. The air outside felt fresh, but everything around her looked strange and unsettling. The scenery was beautiful, but Y/N could feel the danger lurking. She knew that behind every human face, there was a dragon hiding, watching her.
Her eyes landed on a car waiting for them. It seemed so out of place in this world. She hesitated for a second but then got into the backseat. Jungkook followed her and sat beside her without saying a word.
The car started moving, and so did their journey. Neither of them knew what this trip would bring or how it would change their lives.
At the mansion:
Arena had arrived back at the mansion, eager to find out where Jungkook was. When she learned that he had already left for the traditional ritual, she felt confused. She hadn’t expected him to leave so soon.
“He must’ve left alone since I wasn’t here,” she thought to herself. Determined not to be left behind, she decided to catch up with him. She rushed through the mansion, calling for Jungkook’s mother.
“Omma!” she shouted as she entered the grand hall.
Jungkook’s mother appeared, calm and composed. “Arena, you’re back! Is everything alright?”
Arena quickly explained, “Yes, everything’s fine. I finished everything early because I heard Jungkook left for the ritual. I thought I should join him since I wasn’t here when he left.”
But Jungkook’s mother didn’t smile. Instead, she gently told Arena the truth. She explained how Y/N had been chosen for the ritual by the light, and how she had already left with Jungkook.
Arena’s face turned pale. Her body froze as she struggled to understand. Her eyes widened, and her breath caught in her throat. How could this be? Someone else had taken her place—someone who wasn’t even special. A mere human! Her heart burned with jealousy and rage. The thought of Y/N, a powerless human, completing the ritual with Jungkook was too much for her to bear.
Her anger was like a storm inside her, growing more and more dangerous by the second. It was a fire strong enough to destroy Y/N if given the chance.

In the car:
The journey was quiet—unbearably quiet. Both Y/N and Jungkook were lost in their own thoughts, but it was clear that Y/N was much more nervous. She couldn’t bring herself to even glance at Jungkook. She kept her eyes glued to the window or stared down at her lap, trying to keep herself calm. The silence between them felt heavy, and every second made her feel more uneasy.
Jungkook, on the other hand, seemed completely uninterested in her. He spoke to the driver about business, but most of the time he sat in silence, not paying any attention to Y/N.
After what felt like forever, Y/N’s stomach began to growl. She hadn’t eaten, and there was no telling when they’d reach their destination. She couldn’t stay quiet any longer, but the thought of talking to Jungkook terrified her.
