Y/N's POV:
Ever since I heard about their wedding announcement, staying in the same room with Jungkook has started to feel strange. I can sense that Arena doesn't like it, which makes sense—he’s been taking care of me, and if I were in her place, I’d probably feel the same way. But it’s not like I’m here because I want to be. They’re the ones who decided I should stay in this room.
Still, I’ve made sure to keep my distance from him as much as possible. I even go out of my way to avoid getting hurt, because if Jungkook sees even the smallest injury, he immediately heals it, and I don’t want that. I understand why Arena would be upset—who wouldn’t be if their fiancé cared for someone else?
On the other hand, it’s not just the two of us in this room—it feels like there are three of us. Arena is always around, hovering close to Jungkook, and she’s in this room more often than not. She only uses her room for sleeping, and I bet that will change once they’re married.
And here I am, worrying about someone else’s marriage when I’m the one who’s about to meet my end. How ridiculous.
Author's POV:
One day, Arena left the mansion for a two-day business trip. Y/N knew about it because she overheard Arena and Jungkook discussing it in the room while she was there.
Y/N sat by the window, holding a pen and paper, trying to focus on her drawing. But her concentration was shattered when she saw Jungkook and his mother enter the room, deep in conversation.
“But Omma, this isn’t the right time to do this. Arena isn’t here,” Jungkook said, his voice carrying a hint of frustration.
“Jungkook, it doesn’t matter if she’s here or not,” his mother replied calmly. “The condition must be fulfilled, and it can be anyone who goes with you.”
“But Omma, Arena is supposed to be my partner in this journey. She’s the one who should go with me,” he argued, his tone cold and firm.
“You’re right, Jungkook, but this isn’t something we can control. The day was chosen by the priests long ago,” his mother explained, her voice gentle but resolute.
“Okay, I understand,” Jungkook finally conceded.
Y/N watched as Jungkook grabbed some papers from the cupboard, and then he and his mother left the room.
Y/N's POV:
I didn’t understand their conversation at all, so I decided to ignore it. Why get caught up in things that don’t concern me? Just as I was about to go back to my drawing, one of my human friends came bursting into the room, excitement lighting up her face.
“Oh my God, Y/N! You’re really lucky, you know that? I had no idea Jungkook’s room was this huge! You must be having the best time here,” she gushed, looking around with wide eyes.
I rolled my eyes internally. *If only she knew how much I enjoy this prison...* I thought sarcastically.
“Let’s not talk about me. What’s going on? Why are you here?” I asked, curious to know what she had to say.
“I came to see you, of course! And, I’ve got something really interesting to tell you,” she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
I raised an eyebrow, giving her a look that said, *What could be so exciting?*
She didn’t waste a second. “I heard something from one of the guards. There’s this ritual in the dragon world that happens every year. The king dragon has to visit a special cave where their god used to live in ancient times. And the king doesn’t go alone—he takes a partner with him. But get this, the partner is chosen by the first ray of sunlight! It can be anyone. Whoever the sunlight touches first gets to go. Isn’t that crazy?”
