Y/n pov:
After everyone left, I asked the soldiers at the door to close it. As the door clicked shut, I sank onto the sofa, trying to make sense of what just happened. It all felt like a blur, and I was too shocked to even react. Seeing Jungkook in this state stirred something inside me—a mix of sadness and confusion. He’s the one who’s supposed to eat me, yet here he is, injured from saving me. It didn’t sit right in my mind. How did he even manage to bring me back to the mansion with such severe wounds? He collapsed the moment he put me down. I couldn’t wrap my mind around it. Jungkook is an enigma—a ruthless and cold creature one moment, and a savior the next. Maybe it’s his pride, or maybe it’s the ritual he mentioned about taking care of his prey for a month. Whatever it was, I didn’t want anyone getting hurt because of me, not even a dragon.
My eyes drifted to Jungkook. He was lying face down on the bed, his back heavily bandaged. The doctor must have done that to treat his injuries. He looked vulnerable, so different from the fierce dragon I’ve come to know. I felt a pang of pity and decided to freshen up.
After washing up, I stood in the middle of the room, wondering where I should sleep. Last night, I passed out on the ground, but tonight I had to make a choice. The bed was huge, but could I really sleep next to a dragon? It felt too dangerous. Maybe I should’ve asked the maid for a separate room. I’ll definitely do that tomorrow, but for now, the sofa will have to do. It’s safer, and I’d rather be cautious than regretful.
Authors pov:
Y/N curled up on the oversized sofa, which was so big that her small frame barely covered half of it. The room was quiet, and she eventually drifted off to sleep. But in the middle of the night, she was startled awake by a faint, pained sound. Her eyes fluttered open, and she saw Jungkook was awake. A wave of relief washed over her; at least he was conscious. But then, she noticed him struggling to move, trying to turn over despite the pain in his back. Why is he trying to move when he’s hurt so badly? she wondered. After watching him struggle for a few moments, she couldn’t help but speak up.
“The doctor made you lie on your stomach because of the injury on your back. You should probably stay like that until you heal,” she said softly.
But Jungkook kept trying, ignoring her advice. “I’m not trying to turn over,” he replied, his voice strained. “I need to get up—I have to use the restroom.”
Finally, Y/N understood why he was struggling so much. She got up, intending to help him, but hesitated, not sure if touching him would be the right thing to do. Instead, she offered, “Should I call someone to help you? It looks like you can’t do this on your own.”
But he refused, stubbornly determined to manage it himself. After watching him fail over and over, Y/N couldn’t stand it anymore. Without thinking, she moved closer to help him.
Jungkook looked surprised, almost offended, by her offer. “It’s fine. I can do it myself,”
he insisted, but his voice lacked the confidence it usually had.“I thought so too, but clearly, you can’t,” Y/N shot back, her tone sharper than she intended.
Y/N stood in front of Jungkook, extending her hand towards him. The room was filled with a heavy tension as she offered her help. She could feel the weight of the moment pressing down on her. Jungkook’s usual air of dominance was now tinged with vulnerability, and Y/N’s own emotions were a mix of uncertainty and resolve.
For a brief second, Jungkook hesitated, his gaze flickering between Y/N's outstretched hand and her face. It was clear that accepting help was something he wasn’t used to, let alone from someone he considered his prey. But the pain in his back was sharp, and the struggle to move was taking its toll.
After a moment of internal conflict, he gave in, reaching out to grasp her hand.As his hand wrapped around hers, Y/N felt a surge of warmth, surprising her with how strong yet cold his grip was. It was a strange sensation, holding the hand of someone who had been so menacing and now seemed almost human in his need for assistance. The intensity of the situation made her heart race, but she pushed aside her feelings to focus on the task at hand.
With a gentle but firm grip, Y/N placed her other hand on Jungkook's shoulder, feeling the tense muscles beneath her fingers. Slowly, she guided him as he struggled to sit up. His face contorted in pain, and Y/N couldn’t help but wince in sympathy. It was clear that every movement was a challenge for him.
When Jungkook was finally upright, Y/N noticed the way his body sagged slightly, as if the effort of sitting up had drained him of energy. His breaths were shallow and labored, and it was obvious that he needed more help than just standing. She instinctively reached out to steady him, but paused as her hand hovered over his waist. She felt a wave of hesitation. Would he allow her to touch him like that? Would it be too much for both of them?
But she quickly pushed those thoughts aside. Jungkook might be proud, but he was also injured, and at that moment, he needed her help more than anything. With a deep breath, Y/N moved her hand to his waist, feeling the coolness of his skin through his clothes. Her touch was gentle yet supportive, and she made sure to balance her strength so she wouldn’t hurt him further.Jungkook stiffened slightly as her hand found its place on his waist, clearly not used to this kind of close contact. But as Y/N led him towards the restroom, his body gradually relaxed into her hold, relying on her for stability. She guided him carefully, taking slow, measured steps to ensure he wouldn’t stumble.
Once he was inside the restroom, she waited outside, knowing he’d need help getting back to bed. When he emerged, looking even more exhausted, Y/N supported him back to the bed. She helped him sit down gently before asking, “Do you need water or anything else?”
“No,” he replied, pausing before adding, “I don’t get why you’re being nice to me all of a sudden. Are you feeling guilty because I got hurt saving you?”
Y/N’s heart twisted at his words. “Of course, I feel guilty. You got hurt because of me. But even if it wasn’t you, I’d still help. It’s called humanity.”
Jungkook’s expression hardened. “Well, don’t get any ideas. It’s our duty to protect our prey, so I was just doing my job. The better I take care of you, the better it’ll be when I finally eat you. Every good thing comes with a downside.”
His words stung like a slap to the face. How could anyone be so cruel, so emotionless? Y/N felt a surge of anger and sadness. She silently cursed whatever god had created beings like him, meant to torment humans.
She didn’t bother replying. Instead, she turned to head back to the sofa. But before she could lie down, Jungkook’s voice stopped her again.
“Why are you sleeping on the sofa? This bed is king-sized, and your tiny body would easily fit. Sleep beside me,” he said, a smirk playing on his lips.
This time, his words fueled Y/N’s anger. “You said you give your prey every luxury, so let me sleep where I want,” she snapped, frustrated.
Jungkook didn’t say anything in return, just watched as she curled up on the sofa once more. He didn’t try to stop her this time, and she closed her eyes, trying to push away the strange mix of emotions swirling inside her.
