It's thursday morning, today we have a trip to some park. I hate those types of days, they're so unnecessary, I mean better than school I guess. Sighing I stood up and started getting ready . I quickly packed my bag, throwing in some money and water before walking out the door . The next thing I knew, I was in front of the school with the rest of my classmates. I stood alone, not because i was a loser or anything . All the others just were weirdos.
I looked over my classmates , it wasn't that many people since some were sick. Sighing I regretted not pretending I was ill , maybe I wouldn't have to accompany those annoying people.
After a couple minutes the bus came, when everyone was done shoving past each other to get in I walked in and sat by the window settling my bag on the seat next to me. Since everyone wanted to sit in the back I could enjoy my peace and sit by myself at the front . Though it would have been nice to sit next to someone, if we had normal sensical people in this class. When the bus took off, the teacher told us the ride would be about 35 minutes.
I could hear the loud laughter and screeching from the back of the bus, to be honest they were so loud I couldn't help but take a glance at what was happening . The guys in the back were throwing around water , how childish. Some girls were hiding under their jackets to avoid getting wet, others were yelling at them. I noticed that blue haired weirdo ,he was sitting right in the middle of it, covering his head with his hands as not to get wet. Next to him was sitting that metal guy, he was laughing pretty hard and contributing to this little watertfight.
Sal and I haven't talked since that one time in the bathroom, I found it too embarrassing to talk to him after he caught me crying. I mean , I'm a boy , boys don't cry. Certainly not because of things like that.. Even though we haven't talked for months, the 'situation' with my feelings hadn't changed. He still made me feel so weird. I hated that. It's not how I should feel.
Before I could notice , I zoned out, staring out of the window until we arrived .
After we all got out of the bus the teacher started explaining all the rules, as per usual. She then told us to get into pairs of two so she could pair two students with other students. Great..
I decided to pair with someone who was decent before the teacher could decide to pair me with some random person. As the teacher paired random groups she called out mine and the other guys name , right after she said:
"Larry and Sal!" She then handed Sal a piece of paper with questions we should answer while being here.My luck couldn't get any better...
After a couple minutes the teacher told us to go walk around the park and find answers to the questions. Everyone quickly left including us . I didn't really talk to them , I had no reason to, and they didn't talk to me. Larry would occasionally say something to the other guy in our group, the rest of the time he was talking and joking around with Sal. I noticed how much more louder and talkative Larry was than him.
We were in some type of forest, but there were occasional interactive things, which I couldn't care to remember. Everyone seemed to forget about the worksheet, but it's not like I wanted to do it anyway. If I was completely honest , the atmosphere was kinda nice, just walking in a group of people that weren't so negative all the time . Something I wasn't so used to.
"Hey guys look there's a bench!" -Larry
He pointed to a small area where there was no grass, instead a bench with a little table and a statue. These things looked like they had been there for ages.
"And some weird wooden statue." -Sal
Larry walked over to the bench and sat down leaning back from exhaustion. We weren't even walking for that long...? Alright..
"Looks kinda goofy." -Larry
He tilted his head as he looked at the wooden statue , we all were also looking at it. Weird thing to focus on so much . I could hear birds chirping , though it was already getting colder. Leaves were already falling.
"Looks like you Larry." -Sal
Larry looked at him confused, then more intrigued.
"You're low-key right... we should take a pic, for Ash and Todd."-Larry
Larry then proceeded to stand up from the bench and walk over to Sal who was already standing next to the thing. They were about to take the picture with a camera before Larry whispered something to Sal. He looked over to me and the other guy (who was standing practically next to me).
"You guys should join in!" -Sal
I got caught of guard, we weren't friends after all. Why is he inviting me? Should I accept it? I have no reason to..
"Sure!!" -classmate
"No. . Thanks.." -Travis
I watched as they took a photo together ,I notice that Sal was looking at me. I mean .. maybe i was just seeing things but.. after a good second of eye contact I looked away, normally I would make some mean comment.. but for some reason I didn't do that.
While they were goofing around I walked over to the old crusty wooden bench and sat down. The floor was a little wet since it rained the night before . Before I could look around it was already autumn, summer was so boring. All I did was basically pray and read . I love my religion, but sometimes it's all just.. too much.. it's .. exhausting .. am I wrong for even thinking this?
I was so lost in thought I didn't even realise someone sat down next to me, only after he said a swift hi I noticed Sal was sitting next to me. I nodded back to him. He just sat there in silence, so calm so.. normal . How could he be so casual around me..? After all I've did , it's not like he didn't deserve any of it, but how could he pretend nothing has happened.
I fidgeted slightly with the golden cross on my neck as I looked at him.
Why can't I do the same? Why can't I just be.. normal around him.
