Chapter 8: Conference meeting 2

Vanessa POV

We sat silently in the Mercedes Benz and drove to the Venue. Not even one word. Just Donovan, playing his music. Edward is playing games with me and I'm not sure I can keep up. I felt like breaking into tears again but I won't give him the satisfaction. 

I can't keep falling victim of his tricks because my heart still yearns for him. It's time to find a replacement. All the guys I dated after him messed up so I lost hope in finding someone. This time I had to make sure it found a way to work out.

I could see tons of people crowding the front building of Edward's Company. The name written boldly at the top of the high rise building.

'Silver Tech and co.'

One of the leading and most successful tech and business oriented companies in the world. They are into Technology, Business, Finance, stocks and inventions of some popular electrical appliances here in New York.  As we got closer to the entrance, I could see paparazzi ready for action with their cameras and some overly excited young ladies waiting with the hopes of catching a glimpse of the Ruthless Billionaire, Edward Silver.

He looked away from his phone and turned to me.

"Remember what I told you earlier Vanessa. Stick beside me and everything will be fine. Don't try to show any form of PDA. And avoid answering questions from the paparazzi."

"Got it." I said, nodding in response.

The doors opened and it felt like I was thrown into another kind of reality.

Flashes of cameras, went left and right, as Edward and I walked into the Silver tech building. A red carpet elongated from where I was standing to the entrance.

"Mr Silver over here!" One of the camera crew members yelled. I turned to him and he was smirking at all of them. I decided to play it cool and maintain a warm smile and a cute posture too.

"Mr Silver, Mr Silver" Another yelled.

"We love you Mr Silver." A group of teenage girls raising a banner with his face on it screamed with joy as they saw him walking through. One of them even passed out with excitement.

"Are you and Susan Still together Mr Silver?" His face became straight at the mention of Susan's name.

"Is this your new woman?" The attention had switched to me.

"Who is she?"

"Is she a model too?"

"Wow she's gorgeous. Who are you?"

The questions faded as we got into the building. I was feeling overwhelmed already.

Edward's staff greeted him with so much respect as they led him to the conference room. I was right beside him, watching everyone interact in the work place.  They greeted me too trying to make me feel welcome.

The conference was about different Tech and Business companies, coming together to discuss the future of Tech and Business. Other Elite business Men and company holders are coming for it too.

A few of his female staff were looking at me weirdly and giving Edward dreamy looks. All to which he ignored. His female Secretary in particular seemed to be quite audacious and very rude in speaking to me. 

Edward went into the board room and sat down, I went in with him then came back outside to get some coffee for him and for myself.

"Two coffees please." I said to the secretary. She first rolled her eyes at me, then stood up sluggishly to fetch them.  After what felt like forever, she returned with two steaming cups.
