I stared at the man in surprise. "Re-really?" I managed to force out of my mouth. He was looking at the sky now, avoiding my face. "Yes... You were asking for help, so I held out my hand to you. You almost had it, then you... disappeared." He explained quietly. I froze, remembering that my father had awoken me before I could grab his hand. "I had that dream too... The only reason I couldn't grab your hand was because... my father slapped me awake." I heard my voice shaking. Then, he did something unexpected. His arms wrapped around me and hugged me tightly. "Actually, I have that dream every night." He said, patting my head. Seriously? I was quiet after that, because I didn't know what to say. Finally I asked, "What's your name?"

"Chris."

I stared at the ground and imagined a family of mice, running freely. So many people were so carefree and normal. They could wake up every morning without worrying about today's abuse. Tears were streaming down my face now and dropping on Chris's grey sweater. I'm not sure why, but his hug made me feel safe. My eyelids started getting droopy, and soon I was asleep.

Chris's POV

Man, this poor girl. I watched her fall asleep slowly. Her face was still wet with tears and I couldn't bear to see her in pain. I don't know why I cared about her, since I didn't even know her name. I picked her up and carried her too my apartment. There was no way she was going back to her house. Thankfully I had a spare bedroom, so I put her on the bed in there. I didn't care that she was dirty and bloody, all that mattered was that she was ok. The poor thing was only a young teenager.

Rillie's POV

Blood. Two cars smashed together. A woman with a baby in her backseat was limp and the father was standing outside the car, tears streaming down his face. I know what this is. The day my mother died. Of course, I was dreaming so this wasn't happening right now. I was watching from above though, kind of like a angel. Somebody tapped my shoulder and turned around. A woman with hair just like me hugged my tightly. "I'm sorry I left you, baby." She cried into my shoulder. Was this my mom? I don't know. She looked like though. I just nodded and let her cry. Suddenly she disappeared. "NO!" I screamed. I didn't want her to go, not yet anyways. "Comeback!" I shrieked, looking at the sky. She was gone, and she wasn't coming back. I began crying like a baby.

"Hey! It's ok, shh.." I woke up and was being cradled by Chris. I blinked and just sat there, not knowing what to do. He stroked my hair and hugged my tighter. "What happened?" I choked out. "You were crying and screaming..." He explained, looking into my emerald eyes. I sighed and got under the blankets once more. Before Chris left I said, "Thank you."
