'wish you were true.'

'Y/N YOUR HAIR is quite long now,' Tsuyu commented, catching your attention as you softly smiled once you registered what she had said.

It was a warm Monday morning and the students of 2-A had not yet flooded the classroom. Tenya was at the bathroom and there were only Tsuyu and you in the classroom.

'I guess so,' You say as your fingers twirled with the ends of your hair, 'I haven't cut my hair since last year.'

'Oh yeah,' Tsuyu says, jogging up her memory as her attention fell back to her phone, 'You dyed your hair didn't you? Red.'

You froze and gave her a small smile, 'Blue. I dyed it blue.'

'Oh.' Her mouth strayed agape at the realisation.

'Yeah,' You say as your smile began to falter.

'Whoops I guess,' She says, her eyes never once leaving her phone.

You stared at her for a couple of seconds, blinking before you bit your cheek. It wasn't hard to tell the difference between two colours that fall on the opposite of the colour wheel although her response didn't surprise you nor faze you.

Not many people commented nor talked to you when you dyed it blue. It wasn't even an unnoticeable shade of blue. It was bright blue. Nobody just bothered to care. Of course your best friends Mina and Jirou commented but that's it. No one else.

It's a realisation that occurred as time passed by. You were known by your classmates but your presence was undeniably insignificant. You were just there.

Yet maybe with this illness, would they have treated you differently? Talk to you with undivided attention, laughed at all your stupid jokes. You scoffed at the idea, in the end, everyone is all the same.

This really wasn't about the colour of your hair after all.

The day progressed slowly as you sat in your seat taking down notes that looked like scribbles to you. Your mind elsewhere, the voices of those surrounding you had seemingly faded, in moments like these you couldn't help but think about the disease circulating your body. You had told yourself that it was your fate and you had enough time, but in the end, you couldn't stop that gut wrenching feeling in your stomach.

'Y/n?' Called a voice, breaking you out of your trance. You looked up to see Tenya staring at you with worry in his eyes.

You gave him a small smile before he continued talking, 'It's time for lunch, are you alright?'

'I'm fine, don't worry, Tenya' You laughed, 'I'll just be heading off now.'

He nodded but was still relatively suspicious, 'I'll see you at the cafeteria then,' He says and closed the sliding door behind him as the sound of his footsteps began to fade.

'What was that?' Asked a familiar voice and you jolted. You turned around to see Mina and Jirou heading your direction with curiosity printed on their faces.

'What?'

'I didn't know you were close to Iida,' Jirou says and her earphone jack twirls her finger.

Mina nodded enthusiastically, 'And first name basis too!'

You shook your head in dismissal, 'It's nothing. I was just zoning out and as the class the representative, he was worried about me,' You explained but your answer didn't satisfy the two girls.

'Right, whatever you say.' Jirou smirked then inched closer.

'There's totally nothing more than that,' Mina giggled and hugged your shoulders.

You scoffed at them before smiling, 'Guys seriously! Me and Tenya are just friends! Nothing more, nothing less,' You looked at them but they giggled even more, 'Besides I'm not looking for a relationship right now.'

You weren't lying, there was no way you could possibly be in a relationship, with the disease coursing through your veins like an inevitable chain reaction with an indefinite end. You did, however, held a desire for love, an agonising tranquility that you yearned for. But it was selfish, outright selfish. You would be a fool if you could believe someone could love you even with your limited time span.

'Alright missus,' Mina tapped your shoulder as you began to stand up from your chair, 'Now come on enough gossip I'm hungry.'

You were trapped in the middle between Jirou and Mina as they linked their arms with you, talking about god knows what. You had a smile on your face as you quietly listened. Despite your front, your stomach was churning in ways that made you feel distressed.

It was getting painfully hard, to conceal the truth from the two girls that have seen you vulnerable, seen you cry, seen you more than you have ever seen yourself. But without a doubt, you swore. You swore to never, ever tell them.

You swore to never, ever tell them
