Metal Body, Human heart.
Gamma had never been one to seek comfort.
Gamma had never been one to seek comfort. Silence, both from within and from others, had always been his refuge. He thrived in the quiet, letting his mind drift as the night enveloped him in its dark embrace. The stillness allowed him to think, to plan, to simply be. There was something about the night that called to him—the way it stretched out in front of him, vast and endless, offering both solace and danger. Its quiet abyss was like a mirror to his own inner world, where thoughts churned beneath the surface of his calm exterior. His dark blue eyes, the same shade as the night sky above, were always calculating, always observing. He wasn't vocal about it, but Gamma relished in the night's subtle dangers, its stillness. The world felt different in those hours—less crowded, more manageable. It suited him. But lately, silence had a different weight—a softer one that felt almost warm.
That warmth came from Aigis.
On another quiet night, Gamma found himself on the rooftop once more, staring at the distant city lights, listening to the peaceful ambience that the night provided. It was soothing to just listen to the night, just before the dark hour struck. It wasn't unusual to find him alone in the dark, even if Mitsuru would constantly bother him about it. While sometimes he would find the others nice company, he still preferred his alone time. But that very time would be interrupted by the sound of the door opening, as the sounds of quiet metallic footsteps began to approach the silvery-grey haired teen.
Aigis appeared beside him, as she often did, her presence light yet noticeable. She was one of the few that provided Gamma a nice silence, a comforting one. Gamma wouldn't admit it to the robotic girl but he enjoyed her presence a lot, more than any other person ever could. Aigis was a comfort, not a burden to his solitude, unlike some of the other members. Junpei would often talk, giving him a headache due to the excessive amount of noise he made. Yukari wasn't the worst, but kept trying to start unnecessary conversations, things that he didn't need to hear. Akihiko and Mitsuru would just pester him about going back in, and Ken, while better, still was too talkative once in the mood. The only other person he could consider was Fuuka, but even then, she didn't provide the same warmth that Aigis held.
Oh and there was koromaru, who Gamma liked a lot. He was usually the first one to volunteer to take him on a walk out, which resulted in a pretty solid bond between the two. Aigis, however, was the one who knew him best. She was the one who could just be there, no words necessary, just her and him, relaxing in the silence of the night.
Aigis didn't say anything right away, simply standing there as if waiting for him to speak first.
"What brings you up here tonight?" Gamma asked, though he already knew the answer.
"I sensed that you were troubled," Aigis responded. Her voice had a faint mechanical hum, but there was something undeniably tender in it. "I wanted to be near you."
Gamma let out a soft sigh, running a hand through his silver hair. Before meeting Aigis, he had never imagined he'd find comfort in the presence of someone who wasn't human, maybe because of that lack of human connection. And yet, Aigis seemed to understand him better than anyone else.
"I'm fine," Gamma said, his voice steady but hollow, and they both knew it wasn't true.
Aigis, standing beside him with her usual composed demeanour, tilted her head slightly, her blue eyes scanning his face with a softness that was both familiar and unnerving. Those eyes, though mechanical in nature, had always seemed capable of perceiving more than just surface-level emotions. She had a way of seeing through his words, of understanding the subtle shifts in his behaviour. And now, as she studied him, her gaze carried a weight that made him feel exposed, vulnerable.
