"Oh, look who's here. Your lover boy," Ryen teased her best friend as the roar of a motorbike approached.
"Don't even go there, or I'll post that video of you bawling over a dead ant," Elara shot back with a smirk.
"I already told you, it was because of my periods, you demon spawn !" Ryen shouted, glaring at her.
"I know that, but no one else does," Elara said, wiggling her eyebrows mischievously.
"Ugh, fine, I won't tease you," Ryen huffed, rolling her eyes.
"That's my good girl," Elara teased, patting her head before her hazel eyes darted around, searching for the one person she despised the most.
The sound of high-pitched squeals filled the air, and Elara instantly knew who it was-Atlas. With his perfectly tousled dark hair, sharp jawline, and those piercing blue eyes that had half the campus wrapped around his finger, he was impossible to miss.
Atlas strutted confidently, smirking as he chatted with the girls around him. His steps faltered the moment his eyes landed on her--his so-called ugly witch. Elara stood there, arms crossed, her red hair catching in the breeze, and a smirk playing on her soft pink lips as she stared him down.
Before either of them could say a word, Elara's attention shifted past Atlas. Her eyes lit up as she spotted her best friend walking towards them, holding chocolates and flowers. It had been ages since she last saw him-he'd been out of the country for so long.
"Chris!" Elara called out, her voice filled with excitement, a rare wide smile spreading across her face.
"Babygirl!" Chris shouted back, catching the attention of everyone around. With open arms, he welcomed her as she leapt into his embrace, hugging him tightly.
"I missed you so much," Elara whispered, burying her face into Chris's neck.
"I missed you too," Chris replied, gently rubbing her back. Feeling the slight dampness on his neck, he tensed up for a moment and glanced at Ryen for reassurance. She gave him a thumbs-up, though her face showed clear concern.
Meanwhile, Atlas watched the entire scene unfold. Without a word, his jaw tightened, and he strode into the university, completely ignoring the girls chattering around him.
"Why are you crying, hmm?" Chris asked softly as he guided her toward the VIP room reserved just for them. He sat on the couch, setting the flowers and chocolates aside.
Elara pulled away from his embrace, her eyes watery as she sniffled. Chris gently wiped her tears.
"Come on, tell me. What's going on?" he asked, his voice filled with concern.
"N-nothing, I just m-missed you," Elara stammered, offering him a faint smile.
"I know you're not telling me the whole truth, but it's okay. Take your time, and talk when you're ready," Chris reassured her, pulling her into another hug. He couldn't help but think how much he'd missed his best friend.
"Alright, that's enough," Elara said, standing up.
"Let's head to class," she suggested, and Chris nodded in agreement.
"Oh, are those for your girlfriend?" Elara teased as Chris picked up the chocolates and flowers.
"Don't worry, no one's that lucky yet," Chris replied, rolling his eyes. He handed the gifts to Elara, who accepted them with a delighted smile.
As they walked to class, Elara tore open a Ferrero Rocher wrapper and popped it into her mouth.
"Wan one?" she mumbled, her mouth full of chocolate.
