"So, how do we go about running the salon together?" Lana asked as Lina helped her up the basement ladder.
"I could buff and prime the nails and you could apply the acrylic. I always felt like you apply the acrylics flawlessly.. it's always been a weakness of mine."
Lana could feel her cheeks turning a bright shade of red, and kept wondering to herself why Lina keeps complimenting her. "Oh, thank you. I don't know what to say, haha."
As they finally reached up to the salon, both of them stared around for a brief moment, Lana taking in the fact that a lot was going to change in this salon. Lina clapped her hands together all of a sudden. "Alright, let's not waste any time and get to business."
They started rearranging the desk and adding in extra space for Lana to sit and do the nails.
-x-
"Woah.. it looks wonderful!!" Lana admired how amazing the bigger desk was looking now with the added space.
"Wait, I forgot one more thing." Lina made her way toward the sign outside the entrance of the salon that said 'Lina's Salon' and added Lana's name to the sign as well. "There. It now says 'Lina's & Lana's Salon'."
Lana looked at Lina and pretended to be offended. "Uhm, this has been my salon for the last 5 years and my name gets added like it's an afterthought?? The audacity."
Lina rolled her eyes at Lana and said, "Ugh, fine. It will be 'Lana's & Lina's Salon'."
Lana smiled at Lina. "Better. Well, we better get ready soon, I think the players are about to come in."
Both the girls sat at their desk for the first time and gazed at each other for a few minutes but this time, with no awkward silence. Just silence. Everytime Lana looked at Lina, it's like she got prettier and prettier by the second. She couldn't stop staring at her lips especially. That's definitely normal friend behavior, right?
Pretty soon, the salon started crowding with players rushing to get their outfits and nails done. The first thing people noticed and got excited about was that Lina and Lana were sitting side by side together, both of them finally happy to do their job. Everything's back in harmony... yet Lana still felt a bit flustered sitting next to Lina so close but she couldn't point her finger as to why she felt that way. They were friends now and there was no rivalry between them anymore.. then why was she burning up everytime Lina accidentally touched her arm whenever she needed to get the nail file from the other side of the desk? So many questions, but she decided to put those away for another day. She needed to focus on nails and not the most beautiful lady sitting next to her.
