September 2020 - New Orleans
A girl named Sherese, whose name in old French means "cherry", she was as rare as her name She was short, of normal weight, with blonde hair, big green eyes, and pale skin. Sherese was 16 years old, insecure, shy and introverted. At her old school, she had been bullied, and her fake friends had broken off their friendship with her, leaving her feeling lonely.
She became depressed and spent her entire Sommer in bed, sad and crying.
When September arrived and the first day of school approached, she wasn't exited, she was scared that it would all happen again. She felt insecure. But on the first day, she quickly made a new friend, "Melodie", Melodie wore glasses, wore make up and had long blonde hair. She was shorter than Sherese. They entered the classroom together and sat next to each other. They spend their breaks together, but Sherese immediately felt that Melonie was a fake person, she decided to look for another friends and found a another one in her class named "Athena". Athena had black afro hair, was tall, also wore glasses and was a really into K-pop. She was very creative, always drawing and writing stories, she was a really creative person. Sherese admired this side of her.
One day, during PE class, Sherese began to connect more with the other classmates. After the lesson, it was break time, and six girls formed a group, including Sherese and Athena. The other four girls name were Page, Sophie, Yasmina and Eva. Page was the youngest of the group. She had short brown hair, blue eyes, was sweet and beautiful. She was mature for her age and had many pets at home, she loved stars, make up and beauty. The second girl, "Sophie", was very thin with long blonde hair, and blue eyes. She was quite pale and came from a wealthy family. Her parents supported her in any way, and provided her with extra musics lessons. She sang a lot, but couldn't sing well. So, money doesn't buy talent. Sorry not sorry.
Now, onto the next girl: "Yasmina". She loved animal and was a vegan who loved the nature. She was very smart and the best in the class. Her blonde hair was even longer than Sophie's, reaching down to her waist, and she had brown eyes. The last girl her name was "Eva", didn't talk much. She was the oldest in the group and was really good in other languages, but very shy. She had ginger hair and green eyes. Whatever, Sherese admired their aesthetics
Sherese started to feel a bit more confident, but she still didn't knew who she truly was.
She continued to sit next to Melodie, but Melodie began acting strangely. She wasn't as nice anymore, constantly criticizing Sherese and giving her dirty looks. Sherese couldn't take it anymore, so Yasmina offered her the empty seat next to her. Sherese felt happy and relived. They startes to helping out each other out. in math, Yasmina was really good and Sherese was good in English.
Sherese came from a toxic household and never felt loved. Her parents always criticized her. She dreamed of being successful and wealthy. She wanted to be famous, to help other people, and change the world. She daydreamed all the time. Her room was her safe space because she couldn't handle her mother, who always something negative to say. Sherese constantly felt pressured, but having new friends gave her a small escape.
Weeks passed, and Sherese noticed the guys who's passing by checking her out, were mesmerized of Sherese. She didn't realized it much at first, because at the old school guys, never looked or had a crush on her. But there was this specific guy, he was the first one who showed interest on her. His name was "David" he stood out from the other guys. David has tan skin, short curly hair on top, green eyes and had a really good style, he was mixed race and really good looking. Sherese was stunned, she immediately said to herself: "no chance at all", "I don't pay attention to it". However tables turn and he recognized her. They didn't talk, but given looks. The bond between them grew so strong, that even Shereses friends and David's friend noticed too. Her friends couldn't hear anymore her talk about much she liked David, and said: "go talk to him and make the first step, but Sherese was too shy and didn't want to do it.
After a while, she was ready, and her friends gave her the confidence and tried to find him at school. They didn't find him at first and took the bus. To their Surprise to see they spotted him. Shrese said: "I think, I can't do this", I chanced my mind" Page didn't accept a no and pushed her. Sherese on the way to him and she was so helplessly and nervous and said: "you have a great style" she felt in that moment so stupid, his response was by the way "thank you" and Sherese quickly returned back to her friends. Her friends were so proud of her, specifically Yasmina and Page, but Sherese felt so embarrassed and couldn't look in his direction again out of embarrassment.
However, Page and Yasmina did look and saw how that David smiles at Sherese and kept looking in her direction. They could tell how happy he was about what happened.
A week later. He tried to talk to her, but she couldn't recognized it at first. At the end she realized he tried to talk to her, but it was too late he had later on a girlfriend. "It wasn't meant to be" was Sherese thought to herself. He was a senior and after the school year was over, he wouldn't be around anymore.
That's how the year ended for Sherese. Throughout the whole year, she experienced having someone who liked her first, found healthy and supportive friendships, and gained a little bit of confidence. Her life began to changed step by step.
A new life with many experiences, down falls and outgrown memories to make her stronger will arrived, but to this day where she daydreams about it will wait for hair, but before she goes, she will go a long and difficult way.
