"Draco." I breathed out.

He stepped closer, to me, I was frozen.

"Come with me." He said as he reached his hand out.

I hovered for a second. Giving in, I placed my hand in his and he quietly turned and had me trail behind him. He walked all the way back to the Great Hall. He took his wand out and unlocked the door. The Great Hall was now dark, quiet and empty.

He guided me inside.

"What are we-" I started while looking around the room that was only hours ago filled with so much life.

"Just wait." He said while closing the doors, we were in darkened for a moment.

I heard Draco move around and yet again the Hall was lit with floating white lights and fairy lights that twinkled around the trees. He then pointed his wand to the enchanted ceiling, the snowfall began again. It was magical to just be able to look up and watch it. He then turned to the stage, this took a second, a few instrument's were now floating, they began to play music quietly.

"I'd like to get some use of my own out of the dress I bought." He said extending his hand and bowing.

I stood in shock for a moment. It was Draco who bought me this gift. I curtsied like I was taught and placed my hand on his.

His hand closed around mine, firm but gentle, and he led me to the center of the floor. The room seemed to fade into the background as we found our rhythm, the music creating a world of our own. He placed one hand on my waist, the other still holding mine, and I felt a heat rise to my cheeks at the sudden closeness. I could smell the faint hint of his cologne—something sharp and clean, yet dark like him.

Draco began to move, slow and deliberate, guiding me in time with the music. His steps were graceful, almost effortless, and I found myself falling into sync with him as if we had been doing this for years. The distance between us was measured at first, a space of formality and restraint, but as the song progressed, it seemed to shrink, each movement bringing us closer.

My hand rested lightly on his shoulder, and I could feel the tension in his muscles, though his face betrayed nothing. His expression was calm, almost detached, but there was a flicker in his eyes—something fragile, something he tried to hide but couldn't.

"You're surprisingly good at this," I said softly, my voice barely audible over the music, trying to ease the silence between us.

"I've had my share of practice," he replied, his lips quirking up in the barest hint of a smile. "Though, I think you're making it easier."

My heart fluttered at the words, and I struggled to maintain my composure. Our movements became slower, more deliberate, the world around us melting away until it felt like we were the only two people in the world. His hand on my waist seemed to tighten, pulling me a fraction closer, and I felt a strange, electric charge pass between us.

The space between us had all but disappeared now. My chest brushed against his with each slow step, and I could feel the warmth of his breath on my cheek as we danced in time with the lull of the music.

"Draco..." I whispered, but my voice trailed off as his eyes met mine again. For a brief moment, we were both suspended in the weight of the moment, our usual banter and sharp words forgotten, replaced by a strange, fragile intimacy.

His gaze flickered down to my lips, then back to my eyes, and I felt my breath catch. I could feel my heart pounding in my chest, wondering if he could hear it, too. The air between us was charged with something unspoken, something dangerous but alluring.

Draco leaned in and kissed me. It wasn't one I was used to from him. It was sweet. Kind. There was love behind this one, not hunger. His grip on my waist tightened. It didn't last too long. Our heads moved away from each other, my eyes meeting his again.

But then, just as quickly as the moment had come, it passed. Draco looked away, his grip loosening ever so slightly as he pulled back, restoring that small, safe distance between us. The walls he always kept up seemed to snap back into place, though not as tightly as before.

The next song we swayed in silence, our space dissapearing again. I rested my head on his chest. My arms wrapped up his back, hands resting on his shoulders. His hands met on the bottom of my back. I could feel his breath on the back of my neck, meaning his head was snuggled up against mine.

I had never felt a more perfect moment. I could hear his heartbeat steading. We just swayed back in forth. I felt as if time had stopped being here in his arms, I never wanted it to begin again.

I backed a way a bit, not enough for our position to change just enough to look at him.

"Draco," I began, my voice barely above a whisper again, "why didn't you ask me to the dance?"

For a moment, there was silence between us, the air heavy with tension. His gaze flickered over my face, his usual confident demeanor faltering ever so slightly. He took a breath, looking away briefly before meeting my eyes again, something guarded and uncertain in his expression.

"Because," he murmured, eyes flickering with something unspoken, "I didn't think I was the one you'd want by your side."

I looked up at him, he always thought so little of himself. "And by the look of it tonight, I made the right choice."

Tonight was perfect, but deep down I wished it was Draco coming for me on the stairs.

"Draco, I wanted this." I said resuming my position against his chest, I didnt want to see his face after I admitted that.

I felt his head meet mine again and we began to sway in a comforting way.

Once we decided it was time to be done Draco stepped back. His hands on my arms. He looked at me, his eyes swiftly moved back and forth from my eyes. He let out a sigh and his hand slid down my arm to take my hand, leading me back to the door.

I jerked him back as we passed a chair. "Im sorry I need to take these heels off."

I sat down and I began to lean down to my heels, extending one leg ahead of me. Draco quickly took a knee in front of me before I could reach my own heels. He undid one strap, lifting my ankle to fully take it off and placed my shoe next to him. I watched as his previously perfect hair was now all messy and slightly wet. He moved swiftly around the back of my ankle, He moved to the next one. As he stood he ran his hand up my calf. My breath hitched for a moment, Dracos eyes shot to mine after he heard. He removed his hand smirking. He stood picking up both my heels and extended his free one to me. I smiled shyly at him. I took it.

We walked back in silence. My hand in his and he pushed open the common room door. As we met the stairs his hand moved to my lower back as if to protect me, I could feel his cold fingers through the lace dress. He walked me back to my room, he let himself in, he walked ahead me over to my night stand and placing my heels gently on the floor. I watched him as I lowly made my way to my mirror. He looked around the room as if taking it all in. His movements stopped once he saw his own hoodie flopped on my bed.

I stood in front of the mirror waiting for him to leave. I watched him approach me through the mirror, his eyes never leaving mine. He gathered my hair that lay on my back and moved it to one side. I watched him move silently. He unzipped the back of my dress. Then he stopped. His eyes never left mine they didn't even dip to my now bare back, we just watched each other through the mirror. My breathing was now heavy. He hasn't said a word yet. He closed his eyes and kissed the top of my head, he opened them slowly, met my eyes again which begged him to stay and said, "Goodnight Alaia."

He turned and shut the door before my frozen structure could even bare the words "goodnight".

Once I had blinked myself back to reality I looked back in the mirror, I slipped off my dress and hung it in the closet perfectly. I then slipped into some shorts and put Dracos hoodie on. I am a sucker for sentiment. It will kill me one day I fear. I crawled into bed and drifted asleep inhaling Dracos hoodie.
