Sushila was in another wooden house along with a chanter [mage], checking on the villagers who suddenly fallen ill. Parts of their skin were turning green, and no healing command [magic] could have fix it.
"It's a curse," the chanters said to Sushila.
She looked upset and asked, "How could this happen?"
The chanter's expression shifted to one of concern as they spoke. "The only way to fix this is to have the caster release it or to kill them. The only people who could can make a curse on this level is the royal family or a deity."
Upon hearing this, Sushila immediately knew who was responsible. She thanked the chanter and taking a deep breath, stepped outside, allowing the warm morning air to wash over her like a wave. "So he plans to kill us off," she mumbled.
This angered her, as the village was the place she called home and loved with all her heart. Her mind was set; she decided to head to the king's kingdom but she needed reinforcements to assist her with this invasion.
She was strong enough to handle herself when it came to three on one, but not a thousand and one.
Just as she was about to come up with a plan, Ris ran past her.
"YOU DAMN DEMON!" Sushila shouted, her voice cutting through the air like a knife. Without a second thought, she charged at him like a wild boar, her determination fueled by the chaos that had erupted in the village.
With surprising speed, she caught up to him, her hand reaching out to grab his shirt. The fabric crumpled in her fist as she yanked him back, dragging him away.
"Who let you out, demon?!" she asked bossily.
"I'm not a demon; I'm a hybrid!" Ris exclaimed, pulling away slightly. "And could you please stop tugging on my shirt? You're going to stretch it out!"
A shiver coursed through his body as he shouted, "HELP! HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME!" But his cries went unanswered.
Sushila forcefully pulled open the door to the wooden house, managing not to break it completely. She then threw Ris inside and closed the door firmly behind her.
"It's time for you to talk, demon. Who sent you to bring this curse upon the village? Speak the truth now."
"I have no clue what you are talking about or anything about a curse."
Sushila was upset. "So, you don't want to talk, huh?" She reached out, grabbed, and pulled on Ris's ear savagely. "If you don't speak, I will rip your ear off and shove it down your throat."
"Ouch!!! I'm telling the truth; I'm not even from here. If I knew anything about some curse, why would I let myself get captured?" He tried to fight back, squirming and twisting, but her hold was unyielding.
"Aah, if there's anything I could do, let me help." He pleaded, his voice filled with desperation.
Sushila tugged on Ris's ear as she dragged him around the house, searching for rope, but she couldn't find any. Instead, she grabbed a blanket to tie him up. With a mischievous grin, she lifted him like a package and made her way to her giant blue dragon.
"No...way? Is that a dragon? How does this creature even exist?" Ris was surprised and freaked out. He had only heard about dragons from long-ago fairy tales written by web-book authors, but he never imagined that he would see one that was alive.
Sushila rested him on the dragon's saddle, ignoring his protest, and continued she pulled on the bridle signalling the dragon to take off.
In an instant, they were airborne, soaring at supersonic speed towards the king's castle. The wind whipped through Sushila's hair as she felt the anger coursing through her veins. Ris, still tied up in the blanket, could only hold on tight, his eyes blazed with distressed.
As they quickly approached the castle, the king's soldiers spotted them from below. Mounted on their own dragons, they scrambled to intercept Sushila and Ris. "Halt! You cannot enter the castle!" one of the soldiers shouted, raising his sword in warning. But Sushila had no intention of stopping. With a slow grin quirked her mouth, she charged towards the soldiers, her dragon powerful wings beat fiercely against the air.
Sushila patted her dragon's side and commanded, "Show them what you've got."
The dragon opened its mouth wide, revealing rows of sharp teeth glistening in the sunlight. Suddenly, five red magic circles appeared above each other, spiraling with energy and crackling with power. A glowing red ball formed in the center of the circles, its surface shimmering brightly, but with a dark, swirling void at its core.
"Hold on tight!" She shouted to Ris. Before he could respond, Sushila's dragon launched the glowing red ball towards the soldiers with a powerful blast of wind.
