Varian's amnesia

Rescue

*awkwardly walks in* Hiii...! I'm alive!  

I'm really sorry for the long wait, I, uh, kind of suspected it will be like that, I just had school and all, yk!

Anyway, uhhhhhh, here-you-go! *runs away panicking and sweating*

Varian watched as Baron ordered his men to 'take Rider and Strongbow to the cells'

His mind was racing miles a second, panic slowly rising in him as he looked through and dismissed every option and opportunity. 

At the end he was left with two.

Go in the city and find Raps with Cass. No guarantee he will find Eugene and Lance again.

Or go after ex-thieves and fight off the guards, rescuing his friends. Varian never fought anyone, now's not the time to try. But does he have better options? 

Alright. With decision made he looked around at anything that might help him come in and out of the manor unnoticed.

Aha! The pillar row he was behind was built on some kind of platform, and if he dropped a smoke bomb no one will notice him sneaking behind!

He found the most slow-working and mist-looking smoke bomb and threw it, watching as smoke slowly got visible around the grounds.

When he was sure all Baron would see will be just a distant shadow he ran, slightly crouching so that his silhouette was less visible through the smoke. 

As he reached the lion he caught himself letting out a breath he was apparently holding. First step done! 

The next part was harder. He needed to sneak in the building, follow the guards leading Eugene and Lance and not be seen.

He breathed in and looked through the door. Eugene was nowhere to be seen, nor were the guards. The hall was... empty?

Where is everyone? 

Varian shrugged and walked in cautiously, staying near the wall just in case someone shows up - because, you know, it is  pretty suspicious that no one is guarding this place - and looked around for some clues where Lance and Eugene were.

After a few minutes, after Varian already walked around the hall and was about to walk into a random door and start looking there he heard a noise coming from the door on the left.

He quickly hid in the room next to him - not without dropping some vase he barely caught. 

"Argh, I have so much work to do yet!" Groaned a low but quick voice "I still need to do ton  of paperwork!" 

"And I still need to make research on that thieve," a higher, much younger now 

"Yeah," the lower voice sounded further "he is a thorn in Baron's side"

"True" they laughed, their talk getting less and less hearable, until he couldn't hear it at all.

He waited a little more, to make sure no one will come by and then opened the door he was behind, almost stumbling over his feet in hurry and slipped in the corridor he hoped led to his friends. 

He stood there a second, listening for some noises, and only after hearing none allowed himself to sigh in relief. 

"Who's there?"

"Shit!" Varian cursed under his breath as he looked around for a place to hide. Apparently, echo makes even whisper be heard.

"Wait, Kid?" voice was familiar, but he couldn't place it "What are you doing here? Were you caught?"

"No, no, I'm fine!" Varian walked towards the sound, finally recognising the voice "Eugene!"

"Kid!" Eugene smiled at him from the other side of cell bars "You're okay! Sunshine would've killed me if you got hurt!" and after a small pause added "Also, where did you learn those words?" 

"Eugene, I'm fourteen. Don't forget that. And, yeah, I'm good, and I'm gonna get you of here!" Varian looked around for keys or something he could use to help Eugene when the ex-thieve got his attention again.

"Listen, Kid, that as-" Eugene cut himself off remembering there's a cild next to him, though Varian knew exactly what he wanted to say "Baron poisoned Lance, and will only give him an antidote as a wedding gift for me and Stalyan" Eugene looked back at Lance, who honestly looked really bad "I don't want you getting hurt, so go find Blondie and fill her in, alright?"

"Bu-" Varian wanted to argue that he wasn't a child, but was cut off by a pair of footsteps coming their way "Alright"

He quickly hid in a nearby cell and got as far from the entrance as he could. 

He felt a strange fear, being there in that cell. He couldn't describe it, but just couldn't stand being in that dump place, couldn't help but feel like any moment someone will lock him and throw out the keys. 

He broke out of his thoughts as he heard voices move away. He glanced out, confirmed there was no one and headed carefully to the exit. 

Before he walked out, he looked back at the cell Eugene was in, and then before he could change his mind walked out. 

Getting out of the manor was pretty easy. There was much less people outside and it was very easy to sneak past them.

After he was at the streets of the city again he rushed to the place he knew Raps should be in, not noticing wanted posters around him or the bounty on them. 

Heyyy! I wanted to apologise again, I admit it, this was really long even for me.

BUT!

I found a way to stay motivated, which will hopefully help me write and make it more interesting for you!

I won't rewrite every episode, but will write only those I can change something in! For example, I don't think I can change much in, like in 'Return of Quaid'. I could write Quaid recognising V, but it would be the only thing different from canon, so I don't see any sense in it. 

But in 'Forest of No Return' I will write a chapter, cause there are thing's I can change without making it too easy for the gang!

Also if anyone's curious the ending will be pretty much canon. Except Raps's heart won't break and it all will happen pretty fast.
