❝ I won’t ever abandon you. ❞

There's always a person out there who would try, who would attempt to learn something new just to spend time with you.

Someone who would take you places or allow you to take them, just to see you happy.

When you realize that such a person exists, you no longer strive to be... perfect.

Specks of gold dust dissolved into glossy waters. My eyes searched his, but there was no trace of a teardrop at the rim of them. Any evidence was masked by him tearing his gaze away and looking down at his soles.

Then he turned on his heel sharply, about to desert me in this unknown park Dawn and he had brought me to while on the run from a couple of insane stray dogs.

The girl had strayed away from us, and I daresay the only reason I was with him was because of my grip on the hem of his navy jacket.

I hesitated, gripping the fabric tightly. "You're... going?"

He didn't look back, but I heard a sob escape him. "Watashi wa anata o kesshite sutemasen, Serena-chan."

I puffed my cheeks, blew out a breath, bit my lip, but the words still refused to leave my mouth. The soft fabric was slipping away ever so slightly as he glided away from me in a depressed gait. I had to speak before it was too late.

"S-stay."

He froze, looked at me, glanced away the next second, then turned around just as sharply as he had before. I gulped, clasping my hands together. This place was foreign and giving me creeps. My hair was standing on end, my heart beating faster as I assessed his expressions.

Eyes widened, hair messed, lips parted, and color hinting at his cheeks; he was a perfect mess as he approached me rather slowly.

When he spoke, his voice was really hoarse, as if he was well past his adolescence. "Me staying has caused you enough problems."

It took me a moment to realize what he said. Although I never understood what he meant, I shook my head. "You're... going? S-stay. Please."

The clouds gave way to unfiltered sunshine. As soon as it hit us, I closed my eyes. The world melted into a blinding black before the wind carried a gentle whisper.

"Open your eyes." I felt an aura of protectiveness surround me, my skin erupting into tingles when he held a hand against my forehead. It was him. "Open your eyes, Serena-chan."
