Kavya changed into decent clothes and marched towards her neighbour's door. Rang the bell a dozen times until he answered.
"Coffee?" Arjun kindly asked. Everything was fine, nothing a miss
Before she could yell or tell him off, there she was in his messy apartment with a mug in her hand, plate of biscuits on the table before her. Kavya felt his eyes on her as she took a sip. "Why are you doing this to me?" She asked as he closed his fridge and sat on the kitchen counter top far from her. "What am I doing to you exactly?" He asked back with a peculiar expression on his face.
"Torturing me." She answered honestly
"I'm just-"
"Look it's no surprise Sidharth and you are unhappy-"
"I'm the only one unhappy!" She yelled "I'm the only one who has to want what he wants, I'm the only one who has to lie, I'm the only one who has to act, it's never been him!" Kavya cried out, she took a deep breath as she realised she had never spoken these thoughts out loud. Not to her family or friends. Not even in her room alone.
Arjun walked towards her and looked deep in her eyes.
"It's no surprise that you are unhappy" he corrected. Tears rolled down Kavya's cheek. "I'm trying not to be"
"I'm trying so hard to do what's best for us both-" "no" Arjun said softly. "You're trying so hard NOT to do what's best for you both". She knew what he really meant. "I can't" she whispered. "You don't want to" he whispered back.
"I see you kavya, maybe a lot of people don't but I do" he sounded sincere. "I see your unhappiness" "is it that obvious?" She chuckled "to a dedicated observer? Yes" he responded. "Dedicated?" She thought.
She rose from her seat to leave, as she turned the knob of his door she heard "I'm sorry by the way, for what i said last night. You do have a lot to live for"
Kavya twisted the knob forward and walked out.
"It was the alcohol" she thought.
