CHAPTER SIX
Brielle was still flustered as she descends the stage while following Nathaniel Grimaldi. She kept her eyes on the floor to avoid eye contact with anyone in the function room but she cannot shut her ears to the whispers that filled the room.
Of course, who would not be in awe as one of their royals had paid a handsome price for her, considering that she was the one who assaulted him. Even she is in awe.
She is lost in her thoughts, that she did not notice Nathaniel stopping abruptly and turning around so she bumped into him, causing her to lose balance.
She silently screamed and closed her eyes bracing herself for the impact on the floor but Nathaniel instinctively reached out, catching her in a tight embrace. They're body pressing each other that she could feel the rise and fall of his chest against hers.
The soft scent of his perfume, a combination of ambrette and woodiness, leaving a unique trace of oriental addicting aroma that's filling her senses, making it hard for her to remember to breathe at all.
''You can open your eyes now Cinderella'' She heard him whisper.
She slowly opened her eyes, her breath still caught in her throat and is greeted by the piercing gaze of emerald irises looking down at her.
The moment passed and he cleared his throat making sure I'm steady on my feet before he pulled away.
''Tha-thank you'' she stuttered.
''Were in the 21st century, everything has a price'' He said, his tone icy and detached.
''Don't ever think that I bought you because of the goodness of my heart.''
She just stared at him in stunned disbelief, struggling to process the cold reality of his words.
She met his eyes and frowned.
''I did not even think of that for a second.''
I turned away first because the way he looks at me is just too much. It's piercing, and the fact that I am basically his property brought a feeling of relief but at the same time dread.
''Look at me'' his voice commanding, and I instinctively followed and faced him again.
''This is your last chance to make up for what you did ... Don't mess this up.'' Threat is evident on his voice. And there was finality on it, one wrong move and I'll probably end up in a much more hell than this.
He gets inside the limousine that is waiting at the entrance of the hotel and settled himself, but his brows met when he gazed back and saw her still standing and not getting in.
''Get in!'' he said and his voice was enough to snap me back.
She almost rolled her eyes. What a gentleman!
She got inside and sat further away from him, the door automatically close behind her.
''Wine?'' He asked while holding a bottle of wine and a wine glass.
''I don—'' she started to say but he poured the wine already and handed it to me.
She had no choice but to reluctantly accept it.
''The problem with you is that when I offer you something, you always turn it down.'' He said, and just gulped the wine in his glass. She could see the anger flicker in his eyes.
She bit her lip, unsure how to respond.
''Don't just hold the glass and look at me, Drink.'' He said eyeing me.
