The days passed with an unsettling mix of routine and tension. Monday morning arrived with a heavy, oppressive fog lingering over Crestwood high as Lucas trudged into school, his thoughts still clouded by the events of the weekend.
As he entered the bustling hallways, whispers and rumors swirled around him like a fog. The usual clamor of students was punctuated by anxious murmurs and furtive glances.Lucas stood by his locker, noticing how the usual chatter was replaced with a mix of shock and confusion. As he tried to piece together the fragmented conversations, he overheard snippets about the stadium being closed. His curiosity piqued, Lucas leaned closer to a nearby group of students who were talking in hushed tones.
"Did you hear?" one student said, eyes wide. "The stadium's been shut down. They found it completely trashed—blood everywhere, and animal parts scattered around. It's a mess."
Another student nodded, her face pale. "They said it's going to take weeks to clean up. The event's canceled, and no one knows who did it."
"Fucking psychos, whoever did it."A short stubby boy responded
Lucas felt a a strange satisfaction . The prank had made a significant impact, just as Kane had intended. As he mulled over the news, he felt a familiar presence behind him. Before he could react, a low, sinister voice whispered in his ear.
"~Found you~."
Lucas froze, his heart skipping a beat. The voice belonged to Kane, who had managed to slip up behind him without a sound. Lucas turned slowly, meeting Kane's icy gaze. Kane's smirk was barely visible, but it was enough to send a shiver down Lucas's spine.
"You heard the news?" Kane continued, his tone dripping with approval. "The chaos we created is exactly what we wanted. They're all rattled and confused. It's beautiful."
Lucas smiled softly , feeling the weight of Kane's words. "Yeah, I heard. It's pretty wild."
Kane's eyes gleamed with dark satisfaction as he continued to hold Lucas's gaze. "Come on, there's more to see," Kane said, his voice a low, sinister purr. He led Lucas through the hallways, his hand resting possessively on Lucas's waist. The contact made Lucas's heart race, exhilaration coursing through him.
As they rounded a corner, they came upon a scene unfolding by the lockers. Sophia and Jade, two of Kane's associates, were being hit on by a group of guys.
As they reached the scene, Lucas noticed Jade's aggressive stance. She wasn't just trying to deflect the boys' advances; she was daring them to push further, her eyes glinting with a dangerous light. Sophia, on the other hand, stood quietly beside her, her expression calm but her eyes betraying a calculating coldness.
One of the boys, emboldened by Jade's apparent challenge, stepped closer, his hand reaching out to touch her arm. "Come on, don't be like that," he said with a smirk.
Before he could make contact, Jade's hand shot out, gripping his wrist with surprising strength. "Touch me again, and I'll break your arm," she hissed, her voice low and venomous.
The boy yanked his hand back, but his friends, undeterred, continued their advances. That's when Mark and Leo intervened, their presence imposing and their intentions clear.
Mark's fists clenched as he stepped between Jade and one of the boys, his voice a low growl. "Back off. Now."
The boy, unfazed, shoved Mark. "Who do you think you are?"
Leo didn't wait for an answer. He grabbed the boy by the collar and slammed him against the lockers. The impact echoed through the hallway, drawing the attention of passing students. "He told you to back off," Leo snarled.
