Jun recounts the story. He is describing the chaos and his own clumsy attempts at repair. His constant stream of light-hearted commentary serves as a way to manage his own unease and to maintain a semblance of normalcy in the midst of their difficult journey.
It's clear that Jun is using this babble to ease the tension and keep their minds occupied. It is providing a temporary escape from the previous experience in the village.
It is likely to keep himself distracted from the grim situation. He must not be used to it like Aria.
Only Robin seems unbothered. He is walking ahead of them like an experienced guide. He maintains a pace that is neither too fast nor too slow, leading the way with ease.
The chatter is unexpectedly effective and beneficial not only to Jun but to Aria as well. Unbeknownst to them, even Robin is a little relieved.
Robin is actually listening to their conversation. On this quiet night, with Jun's loud voice cutting through the stillness, it's hard not to listen.
There's no need for heightened vigilance because the commotion caused by the rebels and the baron's army has likely driven away any surrounding animals or potential bandits.
The surrounding area feels unusually calm and safe, allowing Robin to focus on the comforting noise of Jun's incessant chatter.
Though he may have experienced more and witnessed death before, Robin has never seen such a bloodbath. He still feels overwhelmed and scared, but he believes it is his responsibility to stay strong in front of his younger nephew. He is determined to be a pillar of support and cannot afford to be the first to show fear. Robin has promised his older brother that he will look after Jun and that they will come back home safely.
In the end, the all-over-the-place conversation helps lighten the mood. They find comfort in their casual chatter and the sense of normalcy it brings.
After a few hours of nonstop chatter, Jun seemed to start feeling tired.
Aria smirked.
After a couple more hours, Jun finally stopped. Aria was astonished by his unwavering "storytelling dedication."
He had initially believed that his storytelling would end within a few minutes once he realized how tired he was of talking. However, Jun kept going, showing no sign of fatigue, even as he panted between words.
Aria couldn't help but marvel at his persistence. Yes, Jun said he will tell him a lot of his good stories but this? He wondered how he could maintain such enthusiasm despite his obvious exhaustion.
Aria smiled. Jun is a good person.
Anyway, everything is quiet now. Just walking.
Once they were in the middle of their journey, Robin motioned for them to stop and take a rest before continuing. They decided to take a break next to a large tree along the path.
Robin lay down directly on the grass, feeling the coolness against his back. Jun chose to rest against the tree. He finds comfort in its sturdy trunk.
Meanwhile, Aria sat on the other side of the tree.
