Fourth trailed behind Gemini, his expression sour and his steps slow. The morning hadn't gone the way he'd hoped. He had dressed in what he thought was a striking, bold outfit—a crop top suit that hugged his slim figure perfectly. It was formal, but still undeniably him, and he had been excited to make an impression on his first official day at Gemini's company.

But Gemini had shot it down the moment he saw him.

"Change," he had said, his tone leaving no room for argument.

Fourth had protested, pointing out that the outfit was still formal enough, but Gemini had merely given him a look that shut down any further discussion. "It's inappropriate," he'd said, though Fourth knew the real reason. It wasn't about the professionalism of the outfit—it was about how much of his small waist would show if he raised his arms. Gemini didn't want people looking at him like that. It wasn't the first time Gemini had expressed his possessive streak, and Fourth had learned to pick his battles.

So, reluctantly, Fourth had changed into something more conservative but still stylish—a fitted blazer over a sleek, high-waisted outfit that left no skin showing. But the mood had already been ruined, and now, as they walked through the sleek, glass doors of Gemini's towering company building, Fourth's irritation was clear on his face.

By now, everyone in the company knew him as Gemini's partner. Fourth had been by Gemini's side at every formal and informal event for the past couple of years, their relationship no secret to those who worked closely with Gemini. What they didn't know—what no one knew—was how their relationship had started. As far as the company was concerned, Fourth was simply Gemini's partner, not someone who had begun as his sugar baby. That part of their past had been kept between the two of them.

As they entered the office, Fourth could feel the eyes of the employees on him. It wasn't anything new—he had been the subject of curious glances ever since he started attending events with Gemini—but today was different. Today, he wasn't just here as Gemini's partner; he was here as an employee.

Gemini had placed him in the weapons design department, a part of the company that intrigued Fourth but wasn't exactly his area of expertise. Still, it was something creative, and he figured it was a good place to start, even if it was clear Gemini wasn't going to make things easy for him. His position was the lowest in the department, the very bottom of the ladder, and Fourth knew that everyone would be talking about how easy it had been for him to get there because of Gemini.

But Fourth didn't care. Let them talk. He was used to the whispers and assumptions. As long as he had Gemini's trust, and as long as he could carve out something of his own in this company, he could handle whatever gossip the employees threw his way.

They walked through the wide, gleaming halls of the company, Gemini's presence commanding attention as always. Fourth followed a step behind, still a little irritated about the outfit situation, but already shifting his focus to the day ahead.

When they reached the design department, the open-plan office buzzed with activity. Large screens displayed various blueprints, and prototypes of sleek, advanced weapon designs were scattered across the room. It was a far cry from the glamorous world of fashion and luxury that Fourth was used to, but it intrigued him nonetheless.

As they entered, the employees all glanced up from their work. Some pretended to focus back on their screens, while others openly stared at Fourth, their curiosity piqued. He could practically hear the whispers—Did Gemini really put his partner in the design department? Isn't this going to be too easy for him? The unspoken assumptions were clear.

Fourth met their gazes with a confident smile, his head held high. He wasn't here to make friends, and he wasn't about to let anyone think he didn't belong. No matter what they said, he knew one thing for sure: no one in this company would dare mess with him. Not when everyone knew he was under Gemini's direct protection.

Gemini turned to him, his expression unreadable, but his tone professional. "This is where you'll be working. I expect you to put in the same effort as anyone else here."

Fourth nodded, even though he knew it wouldn't be easy. Gemini was being firm, and that was fine. It was part of the deal. No special treatment. But that didn't mean Gemini's possessiveness wouldn't linger over his shoulders like a shadow.

"Your supervisor will be in shortly," Gemini continued, giving a curt nod to one of the senior designers before turning his gaze back to Fourth. His eyes softened for just a second, a flash of something warm and reassuring, before he turned and walked away, leaving Fourth to find his place.

Once Gemini was gone, Fourth felt the shift in the room—the atmosphere becoming slightly more relaxed, though the whispers didn't stop. He sighed, feeling the weight of the day ahead. He might be starting at the bottom, but that didn't scare him. This wasn't about proving himself to anyone else; it was about proving something to himself.

As he settled into his desk, he glanced around the room, taking in the other employees. Some were still looking at him, while others had already returned to their work. The buzz of the design department filled the air, and Fourth found himself oddly excited about the challenge ahead.

He might not know everything about weapon design, and he might be starting from the lowest position, but this was his chance to carve out something new—something that wasn't just about being Gemini's partner. It was a small step, but it was a step in the right direction.

And while the journey ahead might be filled with challenges, Fourth was ready for whatever came next.
