Pallavi felt a strong tug and looked up to see Damien, his face a mix of concern and anger. Without a word, he lifted her effortlessly and threw her over his shoulder.
As she tried to wriggle free, Damien’s voice cut through the chaos. “Stay still!” he commanded, his tone leaving no room for argument.
He carried her to his car, opening the door and placing her inside with a firm motion. The door slammed shut with a deafening bang, sealing her inside. Damien's face was set in a determined scowl as he took his place behind the wheel, his protective instincts driving him to ensure she was safe.
Pallavi tried to speak, her voice trembling. “D-Damien…”
He turned to her, his eyes burning with fierce anger. The intensity of his gaze startled her into silence. Damien’s frustration reached a breaking point, and he abruptly pulled the car over to the side of the road.
He grabbed her jaw firmly, forcing her to meet his eyes. Pallavi’s eyes filled with tears as she looked up at him, her heart pounding. “Are you satisfied? Wearing this slutty dress?” Damien's voice was harsh, filled with a mix of anger and frustration.
Pallavi was taken aback. “Damien!! What are you saying?”
Damien shut his eyes tightly, struggling to control his rage. When he spoke again, his voice was clear and uncompromising. “Pallavi, keep this in your mind: I don’t care what those out there wear. I don’t want you wearing this type of clothes again.” His tone was resolute, every word gritted through his teeth.
Pallavi nodded, fear evident in her eyes, as she absorbed the weight of his words.
Damien returned to the driver’s seat, his face still etched with frustration as he focused intently on the road. The car roared back to life, and he drove with a grim determination, the earlier chaos still simmering beneath his surface.
Next to him, Pallavi sat in silence, her mind in turmoil. The emotional and physical turmoil she had experienced was overwhelming. The throbbing pain in her intimate area was a constant, uncomfortable reminder of the assault she had endured. Her thoughts swirled with confusion, fear, and the sting of Damien's harsh words. She struggled to process everything, trying to calm her racing heart and still the storm of emotions that raged within her.
Pallavi’s hand moved to her abdomen, her face clouded with pain. She felt a wave of tears as she realized she couldn’t tell her family about what happened; she feared they would blame her just like Damien did. The thought of their possible reaction only added to her distress. Her tears fell freely, a mix of physical pain and deep emotional hurt, as she tried to cope with everything swirling inside her.
Damien glanced over and saw Pallavi’s tears. His anger softened as he reached out, wrapping one arm around her in a comforting embrace. She buried her face against his chest, her sobs muffled by the fabric of his shirt.
Seeing her in such distress, Damien pulled the car over and fully embraced her, holding her tightly. His grip was firm and reassuring, a silent promise of support and protection as she cried, letting out all the pain and fear she had been holding inside.
Pallavi cried softly, her sobs muffled against Damien’s chest. She felt a deep sense of disgust with herself, her body now seeming like a source of shame rather than beauty. The trauma she had experienced made her see her own beauty as a curse, fueling her feelings of self-loathing and helplessness. As she clung to Damien, the weight of her emotions felt almost too heavy to bear.
Damien looked at Pallavi's tear-streaked face with a mixture of tenderness and resolve. Gently, he pressed butterfly kisses all over her face, his lips brushing softly against her skin. As he did, he whispered reassuringly, “It’s okay now. That man is gone. You’re safe.”
His repeated whispers and gentle touches were meant to comfort and soothe her, to let her know that the danger was over and she was no longer alone.
