Eve's premonition, as it turned out, was not wrong.
Although Meng Xian hadn't burdened Eve with more work, she had given her something far more daunting: two cubs.

Eve's heart sank as she took in the sight of Nyx and Zephyr. No matter how much work piled up, it could eventually be finished. But raising children?

That was an entirely different challenge. The two in front of her might have seemed innocent-Nyx with his gentle demeanor and Zephyr with his calm exterior-but the mischievous glint in their eyes told Eve otherwise.

These two were no ordinary children. They were a handful, a pair of troublemakers disguised as angels.
As a tool created by Meng Xian, Eve had been crafted with precision and purpose. She was designed to be calm, composed, and unflappable, no matter the situation. But even she wasn't immune to the rising tide of anxiety that came with the realization of what lay ahead.

Taking a deep breath, she forced down the myriad of mental images-chaotic scenes of the trouble these two could stir-that threatened to make her blood pressure spike.

With a forced but polite smile, Eve managed to say, "I understand. I will take good care of them. Please, rest assured."

Meng Xian's eyes softened as she nodded. "I believe in you, Eve."

After a brief pause, Meng Xian's gaze shifted between Nyx and Zephyr. "As you promote your faith, make sure to include Nyx and Zephyr. They'll need anchors to stabilize themselves as they grow."

"I will," Eve replied, her voice steady, betraying none of the apprehension she felt. The weight of this new responsibility was already starting to settle on her shoulders, but she knew she couldn't show it. She had to be the epitome of reliability, just as she was created to be.

Meng Xian lingered for a few more moments, her smile gentle as she looked at the two new charges. "I still have matters to attend to, so I will leave you in Eve's care. She will take good care of you." Her tone took on a teasing note as she added,

"Of course, if she bullies you privately, you can always come and complain to me."

Nyx chuckled, understanding the joke, while Zephyr rolled his eyes with a faint smile.

Meng Xian's smile grew warmer, a farewell laced with affection. "Goodbye, all of you."

"Goodbye,Your Highness," Nyx, Zephyr, and Eve echoed in unison, their voices a blend of respect and acknowledgment.

As Meng Xian's figure disappeared into the distance, Nyx let out a long sigh of relief, his shoulders visibly relaxing. Despite the gentle aura Meng Xian exuded, her presence was undeniably imposing. Being around her had been like standing under a weight that pressed on every fiber of his being. Even though he could sense no malice from her, the sheer magnitude of her power and authority was enough to make him uneasy.

Nyx shifted his gaze to Eve, the Dream Angel who had been entrusted with their care. She stood there, a figure of ethereal beauty and serene power. Her long black hair, streaked with a striking pinkish-red, framed a face that was almost otherworldly in its perfection.

She wore a robe of white and pink, intricately detailed with black patterns and adorned with elegant accessories that caught the light. Just her presence was enough to invoke the image of a god, distant and untouchable.

Eve's eyes met Nyx's, and he immediately responded with a harmless smile, one that was carefully crafted to appear genuine. "What's wrong, Miss Eve? Is something the matter?"

Before Eve could respond, Zephyr's patience snapped. "Can you please stop smiling so fakely? It's disgusting." His voice was sharp, cutting through the air with a sarcastic edge that made Nyx's smile falter for a split second.
