** Jamie's POV **
I looked at myself in the mirror. I was in disbelief. The woman in the mirror was a beautiful, well put together girl with braided dirty blonde locks and brown eyes. The hair color and eyes resembled me, but the rest didn't. The almost perfectly braided hair, that was only managed because of a YouTube tutorial, looked great compared to my normally just brushed out wavy hair.
The navy blue dress that hugged and then cascaded down my body before stopping at my knees made my jaw drop. It looked better at home than it did in the shop when it was bought.
I brought my arm up to take a glance at my watch. 5:53. I only had 7 minutes until I needed to 'be ready and on the front porch' according to the note Morgan had slid under my door.
After taking one last glance at myself, I made my way down to the first floor of the house. My heart was pounding as I took each step. I had no clue what to expect from Morgan.
I usually hated surprises and this one was no different. Any overthinker would say that; but at the same time, there was a small feeling of excitement. I had no clue where anything would go. I was hopeful.
But... I was terrified to tell Morgan how I felt. I was never good with expressing my feelings. Somehow I had let this man break down the first half of my defense walls, and if I expressed my feelings... I was afraid I'd have no other type of defense.
At exactly 5:59, I took a deep breath and stepped out onto the front porch. My heart rate was rapid as my hands got sweaty. I looked around. There were no signs of Morgan, but his truck was parked off to the side of the gravel driveway.
With a sigh, I sat down in one of the two rocking chairs and looked off into the distance. It was almost time for the corn to be harvested. It was a solid golden color that made the colors of the setting sun stunning.
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the sound footsteps coming around the side of the house. I scrambled to my feet as I took a deep breath and wiped off my dress.
There Morgan was in a white button up shirt that had sleeves clinging to his strong arms, a pair of dark wash jeans that hugged his lower half perfectly, and a pair of cowboy boots. He looked well put together, even with his chest hair visible from the few top buttons being open.
My heart fluttered as he rounded the house and made his way up the porch. "I'm so glad you read my note," he greeted as he moved up to me, he was almost breathless. "Uh... these are for you. I know they're not the white and red roses you love, but they made me think of you."
He held out a rather large bouquet of flowers in a vase. He was right— it sure wasn't the red and white roses I adored; but, it was beautiful nonetheless. There were multiple types of flowers and they ranged from yellow, to orange, to a pale red. Fall themed.
"Th-thank you," I said, practically whispering as I took them into my grasp and sniffed them. "I love... them."
Morgan ran a shaky hand through his hair as he let out a nervous chuckle. I loved Morgan without a hat on. His hair somehow always looked fluffed up... and pull-able. Absolutely pull-able.
"I'm glad ya do," he finally replied. "They bring out the color of your eyes and represent the fall colors you have been falling in love with over the past week."
I blushed as I looked down at the flowers. "I really appreciate them," I mumbled. There was a small pause before I looked back up and met those squinty blue eyes. They were watching me carefully. "Listen, Morgan... I'm-..."
Morgan shook his head and took a step closer, now looking down at me. "Jamie, there is nothing to be sorry for. You shouldn't be apologizing. You didn't do anything wrong."
