** Jamie's POV **

"It actually hurts to move right now," Morgan whined as he sunk down on the far end of the couch and winced.

I giggled and shook my head. "Should I say I told ya so?" I questioned with a goofy smile on my face as he crossed his arms over his chest.

Morgan playfully rolled his eyes as he shook his head. "No, Jamie. I think you can spare me hearing that yet again," he joked back with a small smile on his face.

"How much worse is it than it was last night?" I asked as I turned myself to fully be facing him. His face didn't look too sunburnt, but it didn't look too bad after the state park, anyway. His back was the area that got the most burnt.

He winced again as he pushed himself to lean forward. He clearly struggled to pull his red shirt up and over his head. My jaw dropped as I saw the red skin on his back. "Holy shit, babe, are you okay?" I asked as I moved across the couch and reached out to place my hand on his back.

I paused for a second as my hand rested on his boiling hot skin. Did I just call him babe? I mentally facepalmed.

Seeming not to notice my slip up, he let out a shaky pained breath as his hands moved up to his hair. He pulled at it as his eyes squeezed shut. My heart kinda ached for him. I'd been there before.

"You're so damn red, Morgan. Almost redder than your shirt," I exclaimed with wide eyes. "Do... I'm going to go and look to see if they have anything around the house that could help soothe this. It doesn't look too good."

"Y-you might have to," he grumbled, his eyes still squeezed shut. "This fucking sucks. I don't think I've ever been so burned."

I took my hand off his skin and jogged up the steps to check for stuff in the bathroom. Luckily, they had a bottle of aloe under the sink. I grabbed it and a towel, then moved back down the steps.

Morgan was in the same position that I had left him in. His breathing was uneven. He was clearly in pain.

"Okay, I got some aloe here. I'm gonna put it on your back, if that's okay," I told him as I flicked the top open.

"Y-yeah," he mumbled. "I just... You were right. I should have put on sunscreen after we swam," he added, pain soaking in his voice.

I shook my head and I held back a giggle. "Or maybe you shouldn't have fallen asleep in the sun," I said as I began to lather the aloe on his hot skin.

Morgan flinched at first, then relaxed into the cooling substance on his back. "How does that feel so good but hurt so bad at the same time?" Morgan grumbled as he gripped his balled up shirt in his lap. "Fuck."

When I was done I placed the bottle on the coffee table and wiped my hands on the towel. I stood up as I eyed the substance drying on his back. "I'm gonna put it in the fridge so it'll feel even better the next time we gotta put it on," I informed. "Just stay there for a few seconds and let it dry."

Once I put it back in the fridge I moved back to the living room and plopped back down. I sat criss cross on the couch, only this time on the middle cushion— right next to Morgan.

His blue eyes looked back at me with what I thought was satisfaction. If I would have put money down, I would have been wrong. A cocky smirk made its way to his face. "Did ya call me babe?"

I swear, my cheeks turned redder than his back as I tore my eyes from his. "W-what? Did I? I don't think I did."

The smirk became a full on grin as he shook his head and moved to sit up straight, not letting his back hit the couch cushion. "You sure did, Darlin'. I ain't gonna lie. I didn't mind the sound of it."
