Chapter 2: An Unexpected OfferA month after her breakup with Jonas, Aurora found herself at a charity event hosted by the university. It was a glamorous affair, with everyone dressed in their finest clothes, but Aurora wasn’t in the mood to celebrate.

She was trying to avoid looking at Jonas and Ellara, who were laughing together across the room.

The sight of them still made her stomach churn.“Do you want to leave?” Elsa asked, noticing her discomfort.Aurora shook her head. “No, I’m not going to let them ruin this night for me,” she said, forcing a smile.Elsa, with her dark, curly hair and bright green eyes, was Aurora’s rock. She had been by her side through every heartbreak, every betrayal, and every tear.

But lately, Elsa had been distracted. Aurora noticed the way her best friend’s eyes kept drifting to Jeremy, Aurora’s older brother, who was across the room chatting with some friends. Jeremy was tall, with the same blonde hair and blue eyes as Aurora, but his eyes were softer, kinder.Aurora smiled softly.

“You know, if you like him, you should just go for it.”Elsa’s eyes widened. “What? Who?”Aurora laughed. “Jeremy. My brother. You’ve been staring at him for weeks.”Elsa blushed, looking down. “Is it that obvious?”Aurora nodded. “A little bit. But it’s okay. I think you two would be good together.”Elsa bit her lip, clearly nervous. “I don’t know... What if he doesn’t feel the same way?”Aurora squeezed her friend’s hand. “There’s only one way to find out.”Just then, Matthew walked over, a smug expression on his face as usual. “You look like you’re about to explode, Kensington. Everything alright?”Aurora rolled her eyes. “I’m fine, Matthew.

Just wondering why you’re here bothering me instead of finding someone else to annoy.”Matthew chuckled. “I came over to warn you, actually. Daisy and Flora have been whispering and looking your way all night. They’re definitely up to something.”Aurora’s eyes narrowed. “What do they want now?”“Probably just to cause trouble,” Matthew said casually. “But if you need help dealing with them, I’m your guy.”Aurora snorted. “As if I’d ever ask for your help.”Matthew shrugged. “Suit yourself, but the offer stands.”

As Matthew walked away, Aurora couldn’t help but wonder why he would offer to help her at all. They weren’t friends, and he didn’t seem like the type to do something nice without a reason.

She decided to keep her guard up, unsure of what Matthew’s true intentions were.
