1. What inspired you to participate in the Cloud Awards contest on Wattpad?
In order to improve my writing, I wanted to enter this award because it gives me a chance to show off my work and get helpful criticism. So that I can work on the areas where I need improvement.
2. Which book(s) are you participating with in this contest?
I entered the one-shot category with my book Let's Go on a Strange Date.
3. Can you share a bit about the creative process behind your entry?
I wanted to write something original for my story, not just another standard trope. Thus, I thought of the concept of dating in unusual locations.
4. Did you face any challenges while writing your story? If so, how did you overcome them?
I had a hard time coming up with unique date ideas and locations. I wrote several drafts of the chapter to improve its flow. I selected this one shot as a practice because I wanted to alter the way I wrote. I improved the writing style and fixed the errors from my first book. Even though it was challenging, I had fun creating this one. Brainstormed a lot, to overcome the problems.
5. What aspect of your story do you think sets it apart from others in the contest?
This one-shot stands out because the date takes place in unique and unusual locations, offering a refreshing plot in the usual romantic setting. On their dates, the leads went to strange locations and experienced warmth, laughter, and love. The female lead came to the realization that spending time with our loved ones makes any place more memorable and that it doesn't matter where we go on dates.
6. Are there any specific authors or stories on Wattpad (or outside of it) that inspire your writing?
"Danger" and "His Little Trespasser" are my favorite fanfictions. These two stories brought me a range of emotions and a level of joy that I've rarely experienced elsewhere. While I have other favorites, these two stand out due to their unique plots.
7. How do you typically approach character development in your stories?
I create characters by developing their backgrounds, including their family and past experiences. This helps determine their goals and motivations. Characters should grow and change throughout the story. Their interactions and dialogues show their personalities. Each character has unique behaviors, and their relationships with others will evolve as the story progresses. The characters we develop should be deeply connected to readers.
8. What's your favorite feedback or comment you've received on your story so far?
There are lots of comments that made me happy. In particular, if I have to share that, many said they blushed a lot while reading; it raised their standard of men, and it was a cute story.
9. Do you have any rituals or routines you follow when writing?
I don't have a routine as I am busy juggling between work and studies. I just write in my free time.
10. What advice would you give to aspiring writers looking to enter contests like the Cloud Awards?
Entering awards is an opportunity to connect with other writers and show off your skills. You will be able to get critiques on your stories. Regardless of whether you win or lose, You can learn from the feedback you get and improve.
