“That rude Rajawat girl you remember?” A sound reached my ear, and I lifted my eyes from my phone to look at him. The other guy nods his head and Kartik, the one who is talking about the girl I think he is talking about continues.

“Aavya got kidnapped. Her parents are going crazy, and do you know—” I jam my phone in my pocket before running out of the park I promised to meet my friend at. My friend can wait if he wants to, but Aavya can’t if she needs me, as her best friend, I need to be present there.

My shoes pushed back the road, and I ran towards her home. The pain in my shoulder is getting intense, it's not an injury, it's because of the punishment my coach gave me after I showed up late for swimming training. Hence he asked to practice for two extra hours.

How can a girl like Aavya get kidnapped not that she can’t but still, I don’t trust those boys until I confirm with my eyes. Keeping my hands on my knees and I paused on my steps trying to fill my lungs with oxygen when a few cries reached my ears.

Aavya’s mother was pacing back and forth, her face red exactly like her eyes giving a sign that she was crying. “I will ruin your school if I don’t get my daughter right now.”  Her mother yelled while her father was busy on the phone. I assume he is talking to the police because as far as I know, Aavya loves her parents as much as they love her.

“I already told you I was against this school. Damn, Abhishek, what am I going to do?” She continues to yell at her husband. Her yells filled with a plea as tears continued to stream down her eyes and she didn't bother wiping them off.

“Keep calm Isha, I am going to do anything to bring back our daughter, Trust me.” And then when I noticed something glittering in Aavya's' papa’ eyes. Tears, Aavya once said that her father is a strong man. He doesn't cry about small matter, in fact, he rarely cares about anything and if he is crying right now, which means it's serious.

“Vihaan!” Her mother says the moment her eyes landed on me. “Aunty,” I say, my voice low as she rushes towards me. “You are her best friend so did you meet her”

I stepped inside the old, abandoned house knowing well that the person I was looking for was here. The smell of dust filling my lungs and I walked towards the staircase. “Aavya?” My voice echoed through the empty house, but there was no response.

I increased my pace running on the stairs with a feeling to find her as soon as possible, my heart racing with every step because if I don’t find her here which means she is in danger, but I know I will find her here, yes, I am confident about it.
