I pulled a small dagger out of my pocket, pressing it onto the pad of my forefinger, drawing a pinprick of blood. I pushed my finger against the sensor on the huge double doors of the Draconic Realm's palace. A flash of white light streaked out of the seal, forming a symbol in the air. I traced the symbol on the seal and just as the double doors unlocked, I felt a dagger pressed against the back of my head. The cold sharp point of the dagger cut into my skin, I could feel a thin trail of blood running down my hair, warm and sticky.
"Keep your hands in sight and turn around. Slowly. Don't make any sudden movements unless you want a dagger to your throat." A familiar voice behind me ordered.
I held my hands in the air, turning around slowly as she insisted. I might play along now but I'll get her back soon. "Oh Miss, I didn't see you there," I muttered sarcastically.
"Work on sneaking Akane. (Akane pronounced ah-ka-NEH)."
"Issy! Give me my dagger back," I hissed, "Didn't know you learnt to pick pockets"
Iclipse rolled her eyes almost proudly, "Well Akane, you should think before breaking in."
"Please, Issy? Look, I know I'm not supposed to break in, but I... need to do something." I glanced away, hoping she couldn't hear the desperation in my voice.
"Ka- Akane, you're not supposed to be doing this," Her face flushed at the fact that she had almost called me by my nickname before realizing where she was and what she was doing, "You should go Akane, no matter why you're here if I catch you again you're done."
"Issy," I grumbled, and she glared at me. "Iclipse," I corrected grudgingly, "Iclipse, you don't get it. This is... important. That's the best word I can come up with. Please, Iclipse. Can't you let it slip once? Just this once, I'll make it up to you."
She gestured for me to continue, and with a flick of her wrist the dagger she'd almost stabbed me with vanished. I took that as a sign that she was considering my request, so I added, "It's not easy to explain but... I need to see somebody... Somebody I'm not supposed to see. But I have to. Have to. I mean, yes I know I'm not supposed to but this is important. Please Iclipse, I'll make it up to you, I promise, and you know the Fae cannot break their promises."
"Akane, you have to go. They have guests over today."
"Oh fuck, I don't know if this can wait," I waited a moment, "So if I leave now you won't stop me next time?"
