The night fell as Chris returned from work. Seeing Kevin in the lawn, he got out of the car and approached him. "What happened?" he asked.

"Nothing, just getting bored, so I took a walk," Kevin replied.

"Wait, let me check the car trunk," Chris said.

"Why? What's wrong?" Kevin asked, puzzled.

"While I was driving, I heard quiet voices, like something bumping into the car door," Chris explained. He opened the trunk and immediately stepped back in fear. Kevin joined him and, true to his dramatic ass, began overreacting. "Ooo," he exclaimed, covering his face.

"Kev, stop it."

"You kidnapped a girl?"

"No, I haven't! Who is she, and why is she sleeping in here?"

"Is she sleeping, or did someone throw a dead body in your car?"

"Kev, stop scaring me," Chris snapped.

They checked the girl and found she was alive but fainted. Chris carefully lifted her in his arms and carried her through the hallway, gently placing her on the sofa, making sure she didn't get hurt.

"Call the doctor," Chris ordered, his voice calm but urgent.
The doctor examined the girl quietly, his demeanor calm and professional. Kevin, unable to contain his curiosity, barged in with a bag. "I found this bag in the car trunk," he announced loudly.

"Shh," Chris hissed, trying to maintain a sense of decorum. "What happened, Doctor?"

The doctor looked up from his examination. "No need to worry, she will wake up in no time. From the looks of her, she hasn't eaten well for the past few days. By the way, what is your relation to her?"

Chris glanced at Kevin, his fear evident. Before Chris could respond, Kevin blurted out, "She is his wife," pointing at Chris.

Chris's eyes widened in shock and fear, but he quickly tried to compose himself.

"Take good care of your wife, Mr.," the doctor said with a hint of sternness before taking his leave.

As soon as the door closed behind the doctor, Chris turned to Kevin, his voice low and urgent. "Why did you say that?"

Kevin shrugged, trying to look nonchalant. "It was the first thing that came to mind. We need to figure out who she is and what happened to her."

Chris left without a word, returning a few seconds later with a blanket in his hands. He gently covered the girl, ensuring she was comfortable.

"Why are you suddenly taking care of her?" Kevin cried, his voice tinged with confusion and frustration.

"Because the doctor said so," Chris replied, his tone firm but calm. He looked at Kevin, hoping to convey the gravity of the situation. "We need to make sure she's okay, at least until we figure out who she is and why she was in my car trunk."

They both sat on the sofa, watching and waiting for the girl to wake up.

"Chris," Kevin whispered.

"What?" Chris asked gently.

"I'm getting bored," Kevin murmured.

"So what?" Chris asked, a hint of exasperation in his voice.

Kevin lay down on Chris's lap, saying, "If I fall asleep, carry me to the bed like you carried her. I don't need a blanket."

"Kev, is this really the time to get jealous and joke around?" Chris replied, shaking his head.

Kevin got up, side-eyeing Chris, but before either could say more, the girl stirred and began to wake up. Chris and Kevin leaned forward, their attention now fully on her, as she slowly opened her eyes.

"Who are you?" Chris asked, his tone direct as the girl lay still.

"Shh, you don't have any humanity, do you?" Kevin retorted, shooting Chris a disapproving look. He turned to the girl, gently helping her to sit up.

Chris watched quietly, realizing Kevin's approach was more appropriate for the moment. After a pause, he said, "I suggest we first have dinner, then discuss this situation."

Kevin nodded in agreement. "You must be hungry," he said to the girl. "Let's get you something to eat, and then we can talk." The girl, still looking disoriented, nodded slightly, and Kevin helped her to her feet as they made their way to the dining room.

While they had dinner, Hazel sat silently, focusing on her food as hunger overcame her, observing Chris and Kevin playfully teasing each other with food. She couldn't resist asking, "Are you both a couple?"

Chris choked on his food, hastily taking a sip of water to recover, while Kevin found it amusing and burst into laughter. "Leave about us," Chris continued, "say something about yourself. Who are you and why did you hide in my car trunk?"

Hazel felt uneasy talking about herself, so Chris decided to break the tension. "I'm Christopher, and this is Kevin. We've been friends for the past 10 years," he introduced them.

"I'm Hazel," she replied quietly, feeling a bit more at ease now that introductions were made. "Hazel Stewart."

The atmosphere relaxed slightly as they continued their meal, each lost in their own thoughts about the strange circumstances that had brought them together.

"Can I stay here for a few days, just a few days, I promise," Hazel pleaded.

"But where did you come from?" Chris asked, his curiosity piqued.

"I actually ran away from my house," Hazel admitted. Chris and Kevin exchanged a surprised glance before turning towards her, both asking in sync, "But why?"

Hazel hesitated before explaining, "I just needed a break from the people I know."

"This won't do. You can just sleep overnight and return home tomorrow morning," Chris responded in his usual arrogant manner.

Hazel pleaded earnestly, "Please, just a few days. I won't be a burden. I can cook, clean, or do whatever you ask."

Chris remained firm, but Hazel looked at Kevin helplessly for support. "Come on, Chris, it's just a matter of a few days," Kevin interjected, trying to sway his friend's decision.

"Kev, are you serious?" Chris asked, shaking his head in disappointment.

"Chris," Kevin said warmly, appealing to his friend's sense of compassion.

"Okay, suit yourself," Chris relented finally, his tone indicating his reluctance as he left the table.

Hazel breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for the temporary reprieve as she contemplated the uncertain days ahead in this unexpected refuge.

"Since you're staying here, remember one thing," Kevin said, as Hazel listened quietly. "Don't be loud. Chris doesn't like it. And don't disturb him while he's working. If he doesn't smile at you or isn't attentive, know that he's not upset with you; he's just like that. He doesn't talk much, he doesn't love attention from anyone. Even I'm confused about how our friendship survived."

Hazel nodded in understanding to each instruction, realizing the nuances of living under Chris's roof. She resolved to respect his space and preferences while appreciating Kevin's guidance in navigating their peculiar friendship dynamic.
