"They are coming too?" I ask tensed.

"Any problem?" Papa asks me, confused. "Neitra would be so happy."

"Yeah yeah." I say sarcastically.

I don't know what to say to him right now. Not wanting to come out as weird I just nod at him. Unwillingly agreeing on my dad for inviting Neitra's family to his anniversary party tonight.

How do I tell him, there's nothing such as happiness that she'll feel on them coming here.

"Which of these would look better on me?" He moves his fingers across various tuxdeos hanging in his walk in closet, in deep confusion.

"Wear anything. You would look good to mumma in anything you wear."

"That's true but", he picks up a teal colour suit and examines it looking at himself in the mirror. "I want to look the best."

And this is Kabir Nair guys. The coolest in the family. The GOAT.

I shake my head getting out of his study.

And by the time I have reached the doorstep of my room, I'm already eavesdropping at the conversation that my wife and Priya bhabhi are having inside the room.

"Must be hard no?" Neitra asks in a soft tone. "Being a mother."

"Haha. It is", bhabhi says. "But you know what, she deserves the world."

Standing at the door I see Neitra, Priya and Priyanshi sitting on sitting and conversing on the bed with their back towards me.

"She does", Neitra caressess Priyanshi's head as she sleeps on her lap.

Something has changed in Neitra. Since she has met Priyanshi. An invisible bond has developed between the two, although Priyanshi's is solely a love emotion towards her choti maa.

Neitra's emotions are that of connecting the missing part of affection in her life.

"You know what, you'll become a wonderful mother someday", bhabhi says patting her cheek before leaving the room.

She gives me smile.

"What kind of mother I'll ever be to a child", Neitra laughs bitterly while kissing Priyanshi's cheek.

Still unaware of my presence in the room.

"The best one, one could ever have", I reply to the question that was never directed at me.

"Abhay? You are here?" She looks at me surprised.

"Yeah."

I sit beside her, Priyanshi now in middle of us. In each other's presence.
Our hands pat her back together while she registers herself in her dreamland.

"Wish I never have to look away from her", she says admiring the little kid.

"Me too. You know."

"One day we will also have a baby", she steals glances at me.

Really?

"Honestly speaking Neitra", she looks at me with nervousness. "It's not as if I haven't thought about it. But it just isn't the time."

Her face falls.

I know where it is coming from. As much as I have understood Neitra in these four months of our relationship, she wants a baby so she can heal herself by providing the love and care she always needed. By correcting the mistakes her own mother did.
