Peggy's POV
Welp, here I am. First day of college, (or at least being AT college) despite one week ago I was complaining non-stop about going. It's absolute CHAOS. People are shouting and everyone is trying to push their way inside with their luggage. But I'm not that dumb, so I just wait until everyone gets through.
I look off to my side and I see Eliza holding hands with some random boy who seems to be in her grade, sophomore. 'So THAT'S her boyfriend.' I thought to myself. I notice a few other boys trailing next to them and I assume that those are her boyfriend's friends or something, but I don't pay too much attention to it.
I can't find Angelica instantly, but when I do, she's next to Eliza. Since my sisters are all trying to bust their way in, I decide to just trail after them slowly with my luggage. A few people push past me but I try my best to ignore them. One of them pushes me a bit too hard, maybe on purpose, and I fall to the ground.
He turns and snickers at me. "Watch where you're going." I roll my eyes, but for some reason, he's still looming over me. "Go away." I manage to say. "What? Speak up a bit, I can't hear you." Oh great, have I already gotten a bully? He's wearing this weird really bright magenta outfit, and his hair is practically all over the place.
He laughs at me again and then walks off. Most people have already walked in, so I'm left sitting in a sea of gray concrete. Lovely. I get up and brush myself off. I try to find my sisters, but I guess they're already inside.
-----
I open the door to my dorm, and I see two girls around my age (except for one looks to be a sophomore) unpacking their things. Okay Peggy, now's your time to act all cool and uh, stuff. "Hiya!" I say, strutting into the dorm room. The one with long, slightly wavy and curly hair with a red outfit jumps up and turns around to face me. "O-oh, hello!" She stammers.
'Guess I'm not the only one who's nervous about college..' I think in my head. I wave at her, then I look around and blindly pick a random room to head towards. It seems to be somewhat of a baseplate for a bedroom, and since neither of my roommates have put their stuff in it yet, I just tossed my backpack onto the bed lazily before putting down my suitcase.
I decide I should probably check on my roommates, so I peak my head out the door, and it seems they already had unpacked most of their items. I walk out and sit down on the couch. My other roommate speaks. "Soo, should we introduce ourselves?" I glance up at her and nod, kind of too lazy to actually speak and have a human conversation.
She clears her throat and speaks. "Well, I'm Theodosia, and I'm a sophomore, and I like cats!" Theodosia turns to my roommate in a red outfit, and she quickly gets the hint and starts speaking. "Uh, er, I'm Maria. Maria Reynolds. I'm a freshman and I like fashion a lot!" My face brightened up at the mention of fashion a little, and I quickly spoke.
"Really? Me too! I'm Peggy Schuyler, I love the color yellow, and I'm also a freshman! My sister Eliza is a sophomore, and my other sister Angelica is a junior, though, heh." Did I speak too much? What if they hate me? Maria already seemed a tiny bit overwhelmed, but maybe that's just because this was a new environment for her. Afterall, it was new for me, too.
Maria flashed me a smile. Today was Saturday, so everyone had only around 2 days before classes begun- or at least, I think? That's what Angelica said, at least. Theodosia's expression turned to look as if she was thinking, then, she opened her mouth. "Let's bake cookies!" COOKIESS?!?!? YES COOKIES ARE THE BEST!
I instantly jumped up. "YES COOKIES!" I screamed. "Not so loud, Pegs. Can I call you that? Well, I'm calling you that now, too late." Theodosia chuckled. I rolled my eyes. "Fine, you can call me Pegs, on the condition that you give me one more cookie than you." She laughed. "Not a chance!" ">:O YOU BETTER GIVE ME MY COOKIESS" I said playfully.
-----
As you can expect, making cookies was chaotic. The cookies almost burnt twice because me and Theodosia decided to duel with spatulas and Maria was the only one keeping track, but then she went to the bathroom, so we had to rush to save our cookies.
The second time? Well, we decided to make a second batch, and we kind of set it to 120 minutes instead of 12. Woops. Maria saved the day, since she set a timer on her watch, in case we had it wrong. Me and Theodosia were too busy playing video games to notice it had been 12 minutes, so Maria had to tell us the cookies were ready.
The cookies were good.
