"Emilia, I swear to God. Out of everyone, you just had to hit a nerve with the Alexia Putellas. What the actual fuck?" Leah's astonished face filled Emilia's screen as she finished washing the last of the dishes.

Obviously, Leah—obnoxious and nosy as ever—was dying to hear every detail the moment she found out that Emilia had already met some of her new teammates, most importantly her new captain. When Emilia recounted their disastrous first meeting at the beach two days ago, Leah couldn't stop laughing. Emilia, thoroughly annoyed, tried to defend herself, fully convinced that she hadn't done anything wrong. In her mind, it was Alexia who had been unapproachable and difficult. That made Emilia both uneasy and irritated. Sure, she could be a clown and a pain in the ass sometimes, but she had never had issues with anyone on or off the pitch. She got along with pretty much everyone and was generally friendly. So, clearly, the problem wasn't her.

"The problem is Alexia. I was just being friendly," she asserted, her annoyance evident.

"And you thought sarcasm was the way to go?" Leah smirked as she settled onto her couch, clearing her throat dramatically before mimicking Emilia's voice. "'You might want to add 'mood killer' to your resume,'" she recited, perfectly capturing the tone Emilia had used with Alexia two days ago. Leah's laughter filled the room, while Emilia rolled her eyes hard, snatching her phone as she made her way to the living room. "You fucking psychopath," she muttered, unable to suppress a grin.

Emilia couldn't help but giggle too, recalling the look of surprise on Alexia's face when she'd delivered that line. "I was on my third try, okay? Desperation and lack of options," she defended, still chuckling as she reached for the TV remote. She turned on the screen, grabbing her PlayStation controller before flopping onto the couch. Placing her phone beside her, she made sure Leah could still see her as they continued their conversation.

"Girl, that was bold," Leah said, shaking her head in disbelief. "But seriously, is she as hot as she seems on the screen?"

Emilia stood in silence for a moment, her eyes fixed on the TV screen as she clicked to start Call of Duty. The screen froze while the game loaded, but Emilia's mind seemed stuck in its own loop. Leah watched her friend intently, the silence between them growing as she waited for an answer. She could tell something was on Emilia's mind; the slight furrow in her brow and the blankness in her eyes gave it away.

"You're really thinking about this, huh?" Leah finally broke the silence, a knowing smirk forming on her lips.

"She's pretty," Emilia said casually, as if commenting on the weather rather than talking about the most sought-after woman of women's football. But Leah wasn't buying it.

"Come on, you're the worst liar I've ever met, babe. You couldn't lie to save your own life," Leah shot back, her tone teasing but laced with curiosity. "How pretty?"

Emilia let out a huff, her game finally starting, and kept her eyes on the screen, pretending to be more interested in the virtual battlefield than the conversation. She could feel Leah's gaze burning into her, though, and it made her shift uncomfortably.

"How pretty, Emilia?" Leah pressed, sensing she was onto something.

Emilia quickly side-eyed Leah through the phone, then focused back on her game, releasing a sigh as she tried to suppress the thoughts running through her mind. "Like...annoyingly pretty," she muttered, her voice betraying the frustration she felt.

Leah's smirk widened, a devilish glint in her eyes, as Emilia quickly glanced at her, only to be distracted enough to get shot and killed in the game. "Mierda." Emilia muttered, annoyed at both the game and the conversation.
