The boy walked through a dirt road covered with snow. The snow was cold and wet and the boy could feel it through his black boots. Wherever the boy and the dog went they were followed by the crunching of the snow and their footprints they left. The boy looked up at the night sky, the stars glistening in the midnight sky glowing and following the moon. The moon was brighter than the stars and the stars danced on the snow. The boy went back to walking on the snow covered dirt road, the moon glistening in his light blue eyes. The boy had to make it to the rebellions before tomorrow's sunset. It was a long ways from the mountains. The boy started to wonder if this war would bring him and his family back together. If he could just see them one more time all together as a happy family he would be grateful.
The boy then remembered the last time the family was together. Thomas and Arlo were fighting over the war and how Thomas would never be welcomed back if the rebellion won and that he was making a big mistake and one that he could not take back. The boy then found an open clearing with wet snow all over. The boy walked to the clearing and sat his bag down. The boy then took out a tent from his bag and set it up.
When he got the tent ready he grabbed his wooden bow. The wood against the boys fingertips reminded him of when he first held a bow as a child. The wood was hard and rough against this fingertips. The boy breathed out and his breath was followed by the bitter cold that covered the whole kingdom. As he put his arrow between his middle and index finger he and the silky string gracing against his skin and he let go the feathers at the end of the arrow grazed his skin as the arrow flowed through the air and then he heard a loud cry of a bird. He opened his eyes as he saw a bird falling to the ground with an arrow in it.
The boy walked over to the bird and saw a Northern Goshawk in the cold snow with an arrow in its stomach. He picked up the dead bird by his legs; they were touch and bumpy against his skin. He walked over to the tent where his dog had sticks in his mouth while digging up a pit. Once the wolf dog finished digging down till it reached the grass the boy took the sticks from the dog's mouth. The sticks had the dog's slobber on it and it was wet and sticky but I placed where his slobber wasn't it was rough and hard. The boy cleaned the sticks from the dog's slobber and he put the sticks in the hole and lit a burning hot fire and cooked the bird.
