Beomgyu's POV
I stand in front of the mirror, the butterflies in my stomach making it difficult to focus. Today is the day I'm meeting yeonjun's parents, and I can't shake off the nerves and excitement. I run a hand through my hair, trying to make sure every strand is in place. Should I change my shirt? No, I already changed shirts three times. I take a deep breath and check myself in the mirror one more time. I look presentable enough, I suppose.
As I continue to adjust my clothes, yeonjun appears behind me in the reflection of the mirror. He wraps his arms around my waist and rests his chin on my shoulder, leaning into me.
''Hey, you'll be fine. Don't worry too much" he says, his voice soothing and calm. He notices the anxious expression on my face and gives me a gentle squeeze. ''My parents are going to love you, trust me,'' he assures me, his grip on my waist becoming firmer. ''You're perfect just the way you are.'' I let out a shaky sigh and turn around to face him, my body molding into his embrace. He pulls me closer, his hands rubbing gentle circles on my back. ''I just want to make a good impression'' I confess, my voice a little shaky. ''I don't want them to disapprove of me.'' He chuckles softly and pulls back slightly to look me in the eyes. ''They're going to love you, no matter what'' he says firmly. ''And even if they don't, we'll deal with it together. I promise." I nod, feeling a little more reassured by his words. His thumbs brush gently over my temples, smoothing away the tension.
''Besides, there's no way anyone could resist your charm'' he adds, a sly smile curving his lips. ''You're too damn cute and charismatic, it's impossible not to fall for you.'' I can't help but let out a weak laugh, a small blush creeping up my cheeks. His words, as usual, manage to ease my nerves a little. I take a deep breath, feeling a newfound calm settle over me. He pulls me back into his arms, holding me close, and rests his cheek against my forehead. ''I'll be by your side the whole time'' he whispers, his breath warm against my skin. ''And I'll do anything to make sure they see how amazing you are. They'll love you, just like I do.'' I wrap my arms around his waist, feeling the steady thump of his heartbeat against my chest. His presence, his words, everything about him makes me feel stronger. With him by my side, I feel like I can face anything, including meeting his parents. We stay like that for a moment, just holding each other in the quiet of the room. His fingers play with the long hairs at the nape of my neck, sending shivers down my spine. ''And if they give you a hard time, I'll deal with them,' he says, his voice a little more serious. 'I'll defend you, no matter what.'' A small, warm smile spreads across my lips. I know he means it, and the thought of his unflinching support makes me feel even more confident. I lean my head back to look up at him, my eyes meeting his. He placed a long but soft kiss on my lips, As our lips part, he holds my gaze for a moment longer. I can see the affection and reassurance in his eyes, and it gives me the final bit of courage I
need to face this meeting. We finally, reluctantly, break apart and head out to his car, our fingers intertwined as we walk. The journey to his parents' house feels both too long and too short. My heart beats a little faster with every mile we travel. He gives my hand a gentle squeeze as we pull up in front of a charming house. As we step through the front door, I can feel my nervousness threatening to take hold again. But his hand is still firmly gripping mine, his presence grounding me. Suddenly, his parents appear in the hallway, and their welcoming smiles immediately put me at ease. ''There they are!'' his mother exclaims, her warm, friendly voice filling the air. She hurries over to us, wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug. ''It's so nice to finally meet you.''
I find myself returning her hug, feeling a little less anxious already. As I step back from the hug, his father appears behind his mother and extends a hand towards me. I take it, shaking his hand firmly. ''It's great to meet you; we've heard a lot about you" he says, his voice warm. My boyfriend chimes in, putting a comforting arm around my shoulders. ''All good things, I hope.'' His father chuckles. ''Of course. Only the best.'' The atmosphere feels relaxed, his parents' warmth chasing away the last remnants of my anxiety. We were just chatting and as I scan the room, my gaze lands on a person who i assumed was yeonjuns brother, who's standing in the corner. There's a strange look in his eyes, a hint of suspicion, his eyes widened a bit after a few seconds of making eye contact, like he was scanning me and realized something. But he doesn't say anything, doesn't even bother to greet me. A slight feeling of unease settles in my gut. I can't quite put my finger on it, but something about his behavior makes me uncomfortable. I glance at yeonjun, wondering if he's noticed it too, but he seems oblivious, engrossed in conversation with his parents. I try to shake off the unease, telling myself that it's probably nothing. Yeonjun had told me that his brother was a bit weird, so perhaps this was just his usual behavior. But the feeling of being scrutinized by his brother's watchful eyes lingers in the back of my mind.
Time skipped ~~~
Once we're all seated at the dining table, the atmosphere becomes more relaxed. Dinner is served, and the conversation flows easily between us. His parents are warm and welcoming, asking questions about my hobbies, interests, and aspirations. Yeonjun chimes in occasionally, adding amusing anecdotes or stories about us. The food is delicious, and the company is pleasant, so I start to feel a little more at ease. As we were eating yeonjuns mom turns to me and asks, "So, how long have you and Yeonjun been together?" I glance over at yeonjun, a small smile playing at my lips before turning back to his mother. "We've been together for about a year now." His mother's expression softens, a hint of tenderness in her eyes. "A year is a nice milestone. How did you two meet?" I take a small breath, exchanging a quick glance with yeonjun. "We actually met through some mutual friends," I say, my voice soft but steady. "One day, we just started talking and, well, things progressed from there." His mother's eyebrows raise slightly, a small smile playing at the corner of her lips. "Just like that, huh? Sometimes, the best relationships start in the most unexpected ways." I can see yeonjun relaxing a bit beside me. "Yeah," he chimes in, a warm smile on his face. "We just kinda clicked, and everything fell into place from there." His mother chuckles softly, her tone teasing. "Sounds like it was love at first sight."
Wish it was...but Iam not complaining.
