Harwin wasn't sure if he had ever felt quite as nervous as this. He had been breaking his fast that morning, having assigned a different guard for Daella for the next few hours until mid afternoon after having been at her door the whole night. The plan had been to rest so he could join Daella later on, but before he could even finish his food, one of the king's guard appeared by the door of the food court and called out to him.
"Ser Harwin." The man - lord Boris Algood, Harwin thought he was called - waved him over, causing Harwin to suppress an annoyed sigh as he stood up.
"Yes, my lord?" He asked, once he walked over, closer to Boris.
"The king has requested your presence in his chambers."
"The king?" Harwin frowned, suddenly feeling every servant in the room turn to look at him, surprised. "Now?"
"As soon as you are done breaking fast." Boris said. "The king will be waiting for you."
And with a small bow in his direction, Boris turned around to leave. As soon as he was gone, Harwin stood there, in shock, frowning to himself as he thought to himself everything that had happened the past few days. Did he do anything wrong? Had Daella complained to her father about anything? She wouldn't. If he had done something to upset her, she would have told him personally wouldn't she? He thought he made her comfortable enough to know she could do so.
Looking back at his unfinished food at the table, Harwin decided he was suddenly too nervous to eat anymore. So, going back to his seat only to grab his cloak he had sat over the back of his chair, Harwin took the last bit of his ale in one gulp before walking out of the room, ignoring the look he received along the way.
Making his way through the Red Keep, Harwin took all the correct turns and hallways, already too familiarized with the castle, having been working there for years now. Out of habit, Harwin almost started to make his way toward Daella's chambers, but once he was reminded of his current predicament by the nerves bubbling on his stomach, he took a sharp turn in the opposite direction for the King's rooms instead.
Stopping by the door, Harwin waited until king Viserys' guards announced his arrival before stepping inside once the door was held open for him. Harwin tried not to look around too much as he walked in, but he couldn't help. The king's chambers looked similar to his princess'. A fireplace by the side with some chairs and a tapestry in front of it, the four-poster bed in the middle of the room, the big windows to the other side, a table near the door, a huge closet on the side, the door to the bathroom. Still, as similar as they were, the chambers were still so different. While king Viserys' room seemed sober and organized, his model of King's Landing took half of the open space of the chambers. The king was sitting beside it when Harwin came in, working on a new piece to his model and frowning down at it in concentration. Daella had that same expression on her face when she focused, Harwin realized and, for the first time in a while, the knight saw the resemblance between father and daughter when, usually, he only ever saw queen Aemma when he looked at her.
"Your grace." Ser Harwin said, still standing by the closed door, stiff as a board, still as nervous now as he was when lord Boris had called him to the king's chambers. "I understand you wanted to talk to me?"
"Ah, yes." King Viserys finally spoke, putting down his piece on the table to lift his eyes to Harwin instead. "Thank you for coming so soon, ser Harwin. I hope it wasn't much of a disturbance."
"No, your grace." Harwin shook his head, stepping closer to the King when the man waved him over. "I wasn't working at this time. I've had another one of my men safekeeping the princess."
"Ah, I see." Viserys nodded. "Ser Harwin, remind me again, how long have you been working as a guard here at the Keep?"
"Four years now, your grace." Harwin said, keeping his voice steady even if he, now, had an inkling feeling of where this conversation was heading.
