Life in Gotham was always a delicate dance between light and shadow. It was a town filled with people trying to get by amidst the chaos and danger lurking around every corner.
I was fortunate to be spared of some of the chaos whilst living with the Wayne family. My father, Alfred, was the family's butler and confidant. Raised in this grand mansion, I witnessed both glamour and grittiness, the stark duality of Gotham.I became close friends with young Bruce Wayne, who was like a brother to me. He was a few months older than me but already showed glimpses of the resolute will and determination that would later define him. He often spoke of making Gotham a better place, a dream that kept him focused even amidst the city's turmoil.
"How are you going to do that?" I asked him one evening as we sat in the dim light of the study, the world outside swallowed by the night's shadows. Bruce paused, staring into the flickering flames of the fireplace. "I'm not sure yet, Grace, but I have a plan brewing in the back of my mind. " He turned, meeting my eyes with youthful certainty. "You'll see," he said with a smile that almost masked his seriousness. "I want to help you make that vision a reality," I replied, grasping the weight of his ambition. He nodded, appreciative of the support. We spent many evenings behind that door, dreaming of a Gotham free from fear. We were only nine years old at the time , and the world felt both enormous and full of possibilities. As the years passed, the shadows looming over Gotham grew darker, matching the deepening intensity of Bruce's resolve. After the deaths of his parents Thomas and Martha, he immersed himself in his studies, delving into subjects ranging from criminology to martial arts. I watched as the boy I once knew transformed into a man driven by purpose. I joined him in his quest to understand the city's underbelly. I practiced martial arts alongside him, honing skills I'd never imagined I'd need. We trained with unyielding determination, sharing the same desire to rid Gotham of its relentless corruption.
