Listening to Vaggie's recap in the lobby provides us with a lot of information. It's very interesting that Vaggie is actually a previous exorcist angel. We also can't dismiss that Heaven will be coming to the hotel first for their extermination. These are some crazy facts to learn this early in the morning. I don't want to act any differently than before, though there's a bigger part of me that wants to pull Alastor aside and talk to him about yesterday. But instead, I stand next to the chair he's sitting in, calmly listening to Vaggie explain. It's interesting that Charlie isn't here with us though.
Angel finally asks where Charlie is and Vaggie mentions that she's upstairs in their room. She has an upset tone of voice. Something must have happened between the two during their time in Heaven. I'm not the only one who takes notice of this. I can see Alastor's interest as he stares at the ceiling before disappearing in the shadows. It doesn't seem like the others have noticed. That, or they didn't put too much thought into his sudden departure. I have a feeling he's going to talk to Charlie.
I decide to take advantage of the available seat and make myself comfortable in the open chair, listening to the group. There's an air of unease with the knowledge of the upcoming exorcist angels. We need a plan.
"Well, what are we going to do?" I question the group who focuses on me. "Are we going to hide? Or are we going to fight?" I clarify my question.
"Hide, obviously." Husk mumbles. "We don't stand a chance fighting against the exorcists. It's better to survive another day." He states.
"What is everyone capable of?" Angel asks the group, looking around. I'm not sure if he's asking because he wants us to fight or defend. "I'm a force to be reconned with when it comes to firearms, Husk has his card tricks and exploding dice-"
"They're more than just tricks." Husk mumbles again, crossing his arms like he's offended.
"Pentious has an entire war machine." Angel continues like Husk didn't interrupt him before gesturing to Vaggie, Niffty, and I. "What about you girls?" He asks.
Before any of us can answer the entire ceiling begins to glow in a light green glow. Symbols start to surround the ceiling, symbols I recognize. They're from Alastor. Did he make a deal with Charlie?
"No no!" Vaggie yells as she begins to run up the stairs to their room. She probably thinks the same thing I do.
I don't care if Alastor is making deals with people to make himself stronger, as long as their deals are business only. If anything goes beyond that I'll have a problem.
Wait... why do I care so much? People sleep together and move on with their lives every day. Why shouldn't this be any different?
But his words echo in my head. 'My mate. My love.' Did he mean it? Do I want it? I've always wanted someone to care about me, to make me the center of their world. Do I want it to be him?
"(y/n)?" Angel's voice brings me back to reality. I shake my head and blink my eyes a few times before looking back at him.
"Huh?" I ask, obviously not listening.
"What can you do? Do you have any weapons or powers or anything?" Angel asks. He really is keeping his word from earlier this morning. He knows about my weapon but isn't saying anything. That's comforting.
"Um... a couple of things I guess." I think through as I materialize the two daggers I use as my weapons. "I'm pretty handy with these. I can create a blue fire that's harmless but a great cover if needed. Oh! And one more thing!" I get excited thinking about how I can display my last little trick.
I change my original form to the small bunny form I used to infiltrate the V's tower weeks ago, smirking at Angel while still holding my daggers. "I can shapeshift into anyone I want." I explain. I love the shocked look on Angel's face.
"Wait... you're also (fake y/n) from work?!" Angel yells, leaving the rest of the room a bit confused. He laughs, holding his stomach. "Holy shit! Nice play!" He compliments. "Though... that means you've seen me at work... a lot." He begins putting the pieces together.
"Yeah... I know." I agree, sitting up properly in the chair. "I've seen a lot of your scenes. Are you embarrassed?" I ask him.
"Nah!" Angel responds coolly. I'm not sure if he's putting up a front or he really doesn't care. "You're not the only one on set, toots." He winks and laughs again. "I don't know what you did when you left, but you managed to piss off every single one of them. Vox, Velvette, Val. They were all looking for you for a while before they just figured you got destroyed by another demon or something." Angel explains.
"I've been wondering." I smile, shifting back to my normal appearance. "Yeah, I may have made promises to all of them that I didn't follow up on. Oops." I say jokingly, shrugging like I actually don't care. Though if Angle ever decided to get revenge and tell Valentino about my identity that could pose a problem. I hope Alastor and I scared him enough for this not to be a problem.
It was at this point we saw Charlie and Alastor walk down the stairs in deep discussion. They seem very distracted in whatever they're talking about, not too aware of their surroundings.
This brought a pain to my chest I didn't realize I even possessed. Why can't I have a minute with Alastor to talk over yesterday? Why is he so enthralled with Charlie right now? Ugh! Why am I jealous?
The two of them laugh on their way out, giving no explanation of what they are doing or where they are going. I can't help but notice how Angel looks at me after they leave. Is it that that evident that I'm a little upset?
When Vaggie comes down the stairs she explains that the exorcists can be killed and that she will be leaving to go talk with Carmilla about how. Once she leaves, the rest of us try to figure out what to do with our time.
"I say we stay." Angel starts off. Vaggie did give us the choice to stay or leave. Angel is the first to voice his opinion on the choice. "We stay and fortify the hotel. Do what we can so it stays standing tomorrow." He says confidently.
"Was there ever any other choice we were going to accept?" Sir Pentious chimes in, a big smile on his face. It's nice seeing them so on board with fighting for the hotel. The mission of the hotel has grown on me. Not for my own sake, but for those around me. I want to see them all get redeemed. I want to see Angle get redeemed and out of Valentino's clutches. I want to see Sir Pentious leave this disastrous place and move on to a better life. I want to see Husk have a second chance to do better and get away from the trouble that he's had here.
But me? I know I'll still be here. Both because I can't be redeemed, and because I don't want to. I may have found a reason to stay. To truly keep surviving.
"Absolutely." I agree, hands in fists and full of energy. "Where do we start?" I ask.
