"Hurry up, Andrea! It's not your wedding!" One of Samtou's client shouted towards the house.
"At least mine is envisonable, dumbass!" The said Andrea came out and rudely pushed the other woman aside to get in the car.
No doubt they were sisters. Maybe even twins, given the resemblance. But it seemed like they didn't get along so well. During the whole ride to the bus station, they kept arguing, from one's versatile love life, to the other's stupid need to control everything.
And strangely enough, they seemed to be living together, given the part of their argument about one's annoying snorting and the other's mania to set the aircon too cold.
When they arrived, however, they acted in a perfect synchronization, Andrea going straight to the newly arrived bus exit to take all the packages their mother had with her, and her sister Sabine going to the baggage hold to retrieve their mother's suitcases. All that without apparent concertation.
Samtou came out and followed Sabine to help with the enormous suitcase, but she sent him to her sister instead. "Mum always has lots of little packages with her, they'll need help to carry all of them."
Samtou nodded and headed towards the mother, who indeed had so many little things to carry, they would probably need to come back for the rest. But on his way towards the car, he heard someone talking to Sabine who was struggling to carry the suitcases.
"Can't you see you're blocking the way?" he groaned, waiting behind her to go past the pedestrian gates. "You're so enormous, yet you can't carry that small suitcase?"
At that remark, Sabine froze, and people around stopped to stare at the man.
Samtou felt the need to punch the guy, but he didn't want to cause a scene. So he wanted to go and help Sabine carry the suitcases, when Andrea suddenly dropped off all the packages she had in hands and angrily walked towards the man.
"Look at you before talking, with your pregnant-like belly! If you're in such a hurry, you could simply help!"
"And why do you care?" The man angrily shouted. "I wasn't talking to you!"
"You speak ill of my sister, you get to deal with me, moron!"
A verbal fight followed, and the station staff had to intervene to keep the situation from escalating. By the time they left the station, Andrea was so worked up she couldn't seem to slow her breath down.
After staying silent for almost half of the ride, Sabine finally spoke out. "Thank you, Andrea."
"You!" Andrea turned to face her sister, still angry. "Why did you stay still? You should have put him back in his place!"
"Why would I mind?" Sabine laughed. "You were there, so I had nothing to worry about."
That earned Sabine a gentle slap on the arm, soon followed by laughters, with remembrance of similar situations they went through.
Samtou grew up alone, so he didn't know what it could be like to have siblings. At first , Samtou misjudged these sisters' relationship. They looked like they didn't get along, but they sincerely loved each other, and arguing was just their way to express it. He envied them.
Samtou dropped them at their house, and when he turned the music back on, 'The best day' by Taylor Swift started playing.
