Figure You Out

{ This one is kinda short (851 words) but it's mostly so I can get a feel for how I'm going to navigate this relationship pairing. The main two, Yuzuki and Akuma, are part of a larger friend group of UA students and this is how their relationship presents.}

"Oh good, he's here." They said in unison.

An eye roll, crossed arms and glaring followed. They hated each other and unfortunately became friends with the same set of brothers. They were part of a mid-sized friend group so they didn't have to interact much. Kai and Haru laugh as they begin walking.

The evening was a blast when they were apart, their friends all having a blast until a yelling match erupts and one punches the other. Black hair hovers inches above the ground as blood pools on the floor from his nose. The music was paused and conversations halted as all eyes turned to them.

"Yuzuki! What the fuck?" Kai yelled, his claws glowing as he stormed over.

"Kai, wait!" Kato exclaimed, pulling Yuzuki away from his brother.

Haru rushed to stop her boyfriend, yelling for Kato to leave with Yuzuki. Sakura walked over to try and help Akuma stop the bleeding. Over the yelling they barely were able to hear Sakura yell;

"Akuma!"

Before Yuzuki knew what was happening he was on the floor and blood was flowing from a cut on his cheek. Akuma was being pulled away by Kai with an arrogant grin. He was seeing red. He rushed back upwards and towards the other but was stopped short by Kato and Sakura. He struggled against them but they held him back well.

One group split into two and the younger four resumed the music and laughed while the older 3 took a walk and ranted while the couple among them smoked. Yuzuki left a little early, claiming that his mom wanted him home. He walked to the park outside his house and decided to hang out there for a while. He sat on the swings and put in his headphones to kill time. A while later footsteps approached behind him and he pulled out a headphone.

"Yuzuki."

"Akuma."

Yuzuki stood and turned around, looking around the park for anyone else, trying to see if any of their friends were stalking around. Akuma did the same, both understanding that it's just the two. They glare at each other, trying to see who will break first.

Yuzuki looks away first. Akuma instantly breaks out into a smile and rushes into a hug, lifting Yuzuki up as the shorter cackles.

"Kuma, put me down!" He laughs.

"Fine fine." He laughs and rolls his eyes, placing his boyfriend on the ground.

Akuma stares at him in subtle awe while the other keeps trying to look away. Yuzuki looks up while the taller one raises his chin. His teal hair looked like the sky in the moonlight. He kisses him, Yuzuki goes to pull away as he chases after him to steal one more.

"How's your nose?" Yuzuki smiles as his rests his hands on his boyfriend's chest.

"Haven't felt it since, how's your cheek?" Akuma asks as he thumbs over the cut.

Yuzuki interlocks his fingers with his boyfriend and they walk towards his house. They make small talk on their way to the house, laughing about their days. They walk up to the porch and Yuzuki unlocks the door. They stumble in, laughing as they go.

"Oh! Akuma's here, you should have told me, I would have left you guys dinner." Yuzuki's mom exclaimed.

"We're good mom."

"You two look all beat up, are you guys okay?"
"I was until he punched me." Yuzuki pushed his boyfriend lightly and ran past his mom into the kitchen.

Akuma chased after him, laughing, "You punched me first!"

"Boy please!" Hagakure laughed as the two circled the kitchen island.

Yuzuki hopped the island and darted past Akuma. Akuma turned and chased him up the stairs but was cut short due to the door being slammed and locked. He smirked, running back downstairs and out the back door. He rounded the corner of the house until he met the balcony. Yuzuki stood and smiled at him, blowing cigarette smoke as he did. Akuma climbed the vines crawling the wall and hopped up onto the balcony.

"Those things are disgusting."

"So you tell me." He took another drag.

"Then why do you keep doing it?"

"Why not."

Akuma looked out into the sky as Yuzuki put out his cigarette on the railing. Akuma smiled as Yuzuki rushed them back inside and urged Akuma to pick a movie. Akuma scrolled as Yuzuki brushed his teeth. The taller settled on a movie they'd seen a hundred times and they changed into more comfortable clothes. Yuzuki slowly fell asleep in Akuma's arms.

They woke up the next morning to Akuma's 7am alarm and began their happy morning, a shower, breakfast, and coffee before donning their uniforms and heading out the door. They walked until about a block before the school, kissed and walked separate directions with a smile.

Yuzuki met up with Kato and Kinsetsu before heading into the halls. They talked for a while about classes. Yuzuki saw a familiar face walk with his friends down the hall, he and Akuma glared at each other in passing and went back to their respective conversations.
